Given the past failures of AMFA and the TWU we should look at the UAW more closely. The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW), think about it. 😛h34r:

All AFL-CIO affiliates have a "No-Raid" agreement between themselves.

The TWU would have to be voted out first leaving American mechs without representation (worse than the non-representation we now have) or the TWU would have to declare "No Interest" (fat chance considering the money involved) in continuing to be American employees' bargaining agent.

aamechntx, We could give the EVIL TWU the boot,no problem. If we could just get the Teamsters Union to stop protecting the TWU, we could have an election tomorrow. There are a lot of people who wouldn't sign an AMFA card, but those same people would sign a Teamsters card in a heartbeat! The Teamster's have their problems also, but any union(except maybe the scab IAM) would be better than the TWU.

The only choices are AMFA, IBT, and the Service workers, IIRC.

Hell - I'd join the IBBW (International Brotherhood of Basket Weavers {grin}) if it would give Little and boys a pay cut.

IIRC the NO-Raid clause is not written in stone, there can and have been exceptions.

That said its not likely that the UAW would want to make an attempt, the best route would probably be to form an entirely new union that would encompass all airline workers with divisions along class and craft lines.

As long as we are stuck with ex-management frauds like Jim Little in charge there isnt much hope that things will get much better.
