Why would any productive employee continue employment NW? NW has been on a downward trend for at least five or six years and the executives aren't making anything better.

No employee with abiltiy, self respect, dignity and ambition would even continue employment at NW.

"Necro",

I've got to disagree with you.

One of my "offspring" took a pay cut(like everyone else) , and had to relocate 50 miles away.

Now, where it did make sense for him,
1. he kept his health Insurance(A BIG thing nowadays)
2. lucked out, and wound up in the A/F house
3. has steady week-ends off,
and
4. has access to ample overtime.

"perhaps" the O/T is a result of the skeleton crew" manning, but since this DOES'NT pertain to AMFA(AMT's), there is NO union conflict of Interest(ex. performing struck work)

This may be an example of "the exception, rather than the rule".

Bottom line, seniority still has it's priveleges.

The old saying goes,"when given Lemons, make lemonade".

Personally, I tried my damn/nest to get him to go to ANC, 🙄 which would have put him in the top 10 in seniority(I really wanted to move there), but alas, my daughter-in-law THREATENED to KILL ME

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". NOT EXACTLY!

When life gives you lemons, look for someone whose life has given them Vodka...then have a party! LOL

Though I acknowledge your example for continued employment, I can't imagine many folks even having that sort of deal. Concessions for rank and file employees while the execs extract millions? Something smells pretty bad here. Continued employment will help the execs continue this trend.

Northwest Airlines and United Healthcare are Minnesota models for bad behavior by executives. Do anything to "tank" these companies.

Now that's something to be proud of.

At the new lower rate.

All you are doing is justifying the downward spiral.

Wal-Mart has no 'union conflict' either.

I am surprised at your post. I understand that you have to support your family in their endeavors...

tech2101,

Save the SARCASM !!

NO ONE is "proud" of having to put up with ANY of Steenland's CRAP.

Having said that,......."Necro's" topic starter/opinion, was that EVERYONE should have resigned from NW, the minute concessions were approved by the BK judge.

If there had been a Strike/walk out because of the concessions, I know for sure of one 20 year person who would have been on the picket line(Plus me.) !!

(JESUS, I wonder what Bobby DISGRACE is doing these days)

Actually, you "know" a 10 year guy as well...

JESUS, I wonder what Bobby DISGRACE is doing these days

Tainting the MSP ramp with his presence (most likely with a KFC 10 piece bucket in hand)....

As for the original question, doesn't this get asked about once a month?! I'm pretty sure I've addressed this in no less than 3 threads, the last being the "DLH hangar going to Petters Aviation thread."

Nevertheless, here's the short answer:

Kick ass coffee mugs.

Seriously, it's the Flexibility of shifts/days off.

That coupled with the ability to pick up or trade away shifts is reason numero uno.

It's something that I put a large premium on, as it affords my more time with my family.

Like I always say, when NWA is no longer viable (economically or otherwise) for me, I'll be gone.

Your "offspring" is a scab! Please refrain from having anymore pollute the earth..

Here's a newsflash: NWA is no longer the viable employer of days gone by. Even with this being said, there you are.

This sort of thing makes no sense to foward thinking people.

You may feel defensive or as if this was a slam. That is not the case. This is only a reality check.

If it wasn't (or when it isn't), I'm gone.

This sort of thing makes no sense to foward thinking people.

Then it should also make perfect sense to anyone that can see past being defined by their job. What part of "my schedule at NWA allows me to spend much more time with my son than if I worked somewhere else" is being missed here?

You may feel defensive or as if this was a slam. That is not the case. This is only a reality check.

Actually, what I'm sick of is being told where I should or should not work. I'm old enough to make my own decisions. I don't need people on an internet forum to save me from myself.

By the way, what was your true motive of starting this thread?

I'm glad you have moved on (seriously), but I'm not stupid or naive when it comes to the state of NWA. I always keep my options open and have a Plan B.

   What is that NHBB says about Scabs? Maybe he should share it with his "offspring". I knew Granstand Cheerleaders were good for something...Breeding SCABS.

By the way, what was your true motive of starting this thread?

I have a feeling that Necro looks down on the hourly paid worker and places himself above them. He wonders why the hell people won't quit a job with a company they do not like. He doesn't understand that even with the concessions 28 an hour and benefits is still better than 7 an hour without. I guess some people have lived too much of a sheltered life and just don't get it. I could be wrong but that is the way this thread is looking.

I wonder when was the last time NHBB told his "Offspring" he was a "Dirty rotten Scab"?

Reply: Are you sure?

Reply: Not understanding why someone would continue working for such a terrible employer, I wanted to ask.

Reply: No but I certainly look down on SCABS...AND THAT YOU ARE!

Reply: Who knows? I'm only hoping that you never father any children. YIKES!

What's that you say Lil Johnny? A: My pappa is PTO and I'm the new poster child for Planned Parenthood.

Reply: How appropriate.

In regard to MY posts...PTO....EVEN a ..."PUTRID....PUSS OOZING......INFECTIOUS (REAL) S C A B( LIKE "YOU") .....knows that there are NO scabs(ZERO), working in any NW Air Freight houses.

Nice try though.

All NWA Freighters were maintained and pushed/towed by AMFA represented mechanics prior to us going on strike on 8.19.2005. Anyone who performed maintenance work or pushed and towed the freighters while we were on strike would have performed struck work. The IAM did the push/tow work with the International's blessing. There are many scabs at NWA freighter locations throughout the world who performed our work while we were on strike.

The gentlemen at work who are former NW mechs swear that the IAM performed struck work during the strike. Examples they used were pushbacks and aircraft cleaning. I don't know about the air freight operations.

They also told me that a lot of the SCABS are former IAM officers. That's amazing!
