2010 SENATE CAMPAIGN: Polls show potential GOP challengers would beat Harry Reid
Tarkanian claims early GOP lead

It's the highest stakes ever for a Nevada election, and former boxer Sen. Harry Reid is on the ropes early. Either Republican Danny Tarkanian or Sue Lowden would knock out Reid in a general election, according to a recent poll of Nevada voters.

The results suggest the Democratic Senate majority leader will have to punch hard and often in order to retain his position as the most accomplished politician in state history, in terms of job status.

Nevadans favored Tarkanian over Reid 49 percent to 38 percent and Lowden over Reid 45 percent to 40 percent, according to the poll.

Reid's status makes him an icon of the Democratic Party and ties him to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and President Barack Obama, both of whom are losing ground among centrist and right-leaning voters in the country.

Conyers looks vulnerable in 2010 reelection poll

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) could face a tough reelection race in 2010, according to a new, independent poll released this weekend.

40 percent of Conyers's constituents said he deserved reelection, according to a poll conducted earlier this month by the Lansing, Mich.-based Deno Noor Polling, in conjunction with the Rossman Group and Perricone Group.

44 percent of Detroiters represented by Conyers said they would prefer to elect someone else. 15 percent were unsure or didn't know.

I doubt that the Democrats will lose majority control of any of the 3 Chambers. Super majority perhaps, but this won't be 1995 all over again.

So bottom line, the GOP may keep the President from getting all that he may want, BUT the republicans still wont get Anything they want !

Demcorats could very well have one of the biggest loss of seats in our history. The historical facts are that the American people don't want anyone to conservative (Bush) or to Liberal (Obama) with the notable exception of Ronald Reagan. Obama's agenda is far to Liberal for at least 40% of the population to stomach and a far greater percentage then anyone imagined have decided that the IDEA of Government run health care is not in their best interests. If Obama keeps pushing the issue he'll be TOAST! Those up for re election will abandon him quicker then you think and he will be well on his way to being a one term President. So far he's all hat and no cattle.

Conversely if we see strong Q4 retails sales and other positive news economically coupled with a retreat from Health care then I think you'll see the current super majority possibly grow.

I happen to be strongly in favor of the GRIP movement. Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians. It's simple in that whomever is the incumbent you simply vote for the other candidate regardless of their views. This sends a huge message to Washington

Citing worse than expected economy, White House and Congress offer bleak budget outlooks

The federal government faces exploding deficits and mounting debt over the next decade, White House and congressional budget officials projected Tuesday in rival economic outlooks.

Both the White House Office of Management and Budget and the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office predicted the budget deficit this year would swell to nearly $1.6 trillon, a record.

But while figures released by the Whit House foresee a cumulative $9 trillion deficit from 2010-2019, $2 trillion more than the administration estimated in May, congressional budget analysts put the figure at a lower $7.14 trillion.

Still, the CBO said in its midsummer budget update, "putting the nation on a sustainable fiscal course will require some combination of lower spending and higher revenues than the amounts now projected."

Both projects see the overall national debt, which now stands at $11.7 trillion, nearly doubling over the next decade.

You're forgetting two things.

1. The American public has the attention span measured im milliseconds and is easily distracted. (The shiny metal object syndrome)

2. The American public has the collective memory of a Gnat


That's what the Dems are counting on.

True, but remember in politics, theres going to be a constant reminders of past indiscretions to destroy the other party. Remember Clinton-Lewinsky, Whitewater, etc.

The healthcare debates, cap and tax, etc. arent even close to being over with and will bleed into the election.

Piney, I would not call Bush a conservative. Like I said before, Kennedy was more conservative than Bush. I believe a real conservative would draw many voters.

The publisher of the Las Vegas Review-Journal says that Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic majority leader, told the director of advertising that he hoped the newspaper would go out of business.

In the Sunday column, titled “Enough Is Enough, Harry,� Sherman Frederick recounted a meeting between Mr. Reid and the advertising director, Bob Brown, who was standing in line to greet the senator at a Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce luncheon last Wednesday.

According to Mr. Frederick’s column, the senator told Mr. Brown, “I hope you go out of business,� as the pair shook hands. The column further says that later in his public speech, Mr. Reid also said he wanted everyone to know that he wanted the Review-Journal to continue selling advertising because the rival Las Vegas Sun is delivered inside the Review-Journal.

I just hope to heaven the republicans don't pull another boner move like they did with putting Palin as VP. Palin reminded me of a flight attendent I used to date. She was fun to take fishing and had great boobies, but man was she dumb. Hopefully they won't hand the left wing dems another win, I don't think this country could take it.
