If the deal dies, then it dies. If it proceeds, then think about your income and how to maximize it. Who cares what the company calls itself or which type of airplanes it flies. Think about maximizing your income. If it is through a merger, then vote for it. If it through staying alone, then vote for that. At this point, our airline jobs are no longer a career. Follow the money.

Do you really believe that there won't be a substantial number of pilot layoffs if the merger proceeds? I don't see how you can cut 10%(deemed a conservative estimate by many) and retain everyone. Early outs won't do much to wither the ranks of 7000 DL pilots as most people who could have left already have.

Layoffs? If this deal even goes through not initially but long term it would depend on how much the combined airline would have to give up to satisfy Justice. U east already has 1500 on furlough, and IF the deal goes through, those who haven't been recalled will be in the most jeopardy of being left behind.

L.O.A.'s will probably be offered across all divisions, as UAL has done for years to manage staffing.

Why is that so unbelievable? US/HP cut a lot more than 10% capacity, and laid off 0 pilots. Plus, the attrition rate at US East is pretty high, no? And hasnt DP stated that the 50 seaters are going to be much of the reduced capacity? Just thoughts......

I am not sure, but the AW/US lists have not been integrated yet have they? I think it still remains to be seen exactly what will happen to all those furloughed US pilots. Perhaps someone more familiar could elaborate.

Delta is twice the size of your pathetic operation. How hard was it to integrate a few hundred 3rd tier America West Pilots into US Airways.

Wow! Although I understand what you're saying, that's a little harsh don't ya think? I have alot of good friends at that "3rd tier, pathetic" operation.

...maybe you'll find out how hard it is when Dougie finishes buying your bankrupt A$$ and we can be ONE big happy family. Right 777? How does that sound? 😛 😛 😛

Yeah, I also think that was unduly harsh.

I understand, and sympathize, that a lot of what is going around is negative and unwelcome. However, the decision to place the company (any company) in Ch. 11 causes a lot of problems regarding loss of control of the company (and this is any company in any industry) and adds a lot of risk to everyone.

Remember that a filing of any court action that is intended to lessen the amount of money owed any creditor is essentially intended to harm those people and companies to the percieved betterment of the company seeking to shed debts and obligations. Those people, employess of the company or not, have provided service or some other form of equity for which, potentially, they will not be paid or otherwise fully compensated for the service(s) they provided in goodwill.

Just my .02 worth.

I think it is very difficult. They are our ALPA brothers, almost two thousand strong, and had their own career expectations..and we had ours. We will be working together soon , and it has to be done with proper process...not a staple job. That is finishing up now, with a ruling to come out in the Spring.

I was not aware that ALPA considered any of its pilots "third tier." In fact, an ASA pilot was just elected to an Executive position at National. I think a DAL guy might have even been running against him, but my memory fails me

I hope it does not happen, but we will find ourselves in a similar situation if New Delta comes to exist. Because, yes, we are all members of the same union, pathetic or not.

Merry Christmas!!!!
