What's new

Today's PIT AFA Meeting...

Go to CLT!!!!

Who are you to tell us where to go? They have already said time will go to CLT, DCA, and PHL. We still have mainline jets to PHL with SWA as backup. CLT would be a harder commute because of all the RJ's being used.

We don't need/want anymore burgers in PHL.....

Talking about being rude!!!! Guess what Twicebaked....If I choose PHL, I hope it's you I bump out of a trip or position or block because of my seniority. Or maybe alas, your just a RES, and might not be able to hold PHL when we move.....pity....

the commute is bad enough!!!

Nobody ever said it was it was a cake walk....

I have a gr8 idea........RETIRE already!!!!!!!

Hey Twicebaked, I have a better idea, why don't YOU leave if you are sooooo unhappy. We will retire when we are good and ready. Not a second before. God willing... I hope you find console in your heart for that remark. That was truly uncalled for...

Not being mean, but something has got to give here........................

Yea, you were being mean, and you knew saying it was going to ruffle alot of feathers. Sorry, closing PIT might cause you to be put out a little. Guess what, it's the way of the world. No one ever said life was easy..... Deal with It.....

That should cover your little blip on this board...

Just my opinion...

You need some Prozac dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Upset that you are getting kicked out of precious PIT???

Yea, now I AM being mean......shove it with your bitterness.

And where did you read that I said I was unhappy idiot?

It's people like you that I AM glad it happened to.

I may be JUST a reserve, but I'd rather be a reserve than old and bitter like you apparently are!

Hey, Y'all. Come on to CLT! We'll get us up a pig-pickin' and have some good ol' North Carolina BBQ, and welcome our new CLT F/A's. (Seriously, we will).

Twicebaked...

It is easy to see you are the kind of person that thinks they have the answer to everything. You know that annoying person you talk to because you don't want to appear to be rude. Yet, when you speak, you really don't have anything at all to say. Just garbage and hogwash... Your opinions on what...(How did you call us "Precious Pit") we do with our closing of PIT is entirely our concern. NOT yours. If it affects you, SORRY... It wasn't my doing...
You should learn manners...something the airline overlooked when they hired you. Respect is something you earn my little junior puke. I am not at all upset about PIT closing. Yea, I would have loved for the dance to continue. But hey, that's life. It will go on....and not because of you...
Bitter IM not, Bitter YOU are...
Look at your posts....

Just my opinion...

I think your waaaaaay OVERBAKED!!! oh and by the way most know who u are 😛h34r: 😛h34r:

They really had supervisors call random F/As to "check on them"? That is something the old administration would never have done, and I'm speaking as someone who experienced a lot of "bad news" announcements from Crystal City.

I've had more than one closed base, a closed division, several displacements, and two furloughs. I never got a phone call from the company checking on anything. There was never a meeting for us to go to with the company or the AFA.

We found out about our furloughs (and the times they were rescinded) through the mail. We were never called by anyone to see how we were doing having just found out that we lost our job (not our base, our job). We were just given a date and told to drop off our manual, wings, and ID with a receptionist.

A few years later we read about the sale of the MDA planes on theHub, with a letter and a Q&A. The only contact I ever got from the AFA was them requesting payment of dues they hadn't taken out of my paycheck... dues that went to Mainline US Airways, despite the fact that we were not allowed to vote and not covered by the mainline contract (just the dues paying part apparently). AFA and the company finally got around to printing an "Embraer Division" contract two months before the division closed after telling us for two years that there were 'problems with the printing company.'

We found out Republic was not employing us when a letter from them appeared in our mailbox with dates for open houses, a few weeks before the first airplane left the fleet.

We found out about the base closings all at once, with a schedule of when PIT would close, then DCA, and finally PHL and the whole division- it was in our crew mail. The last flight came and went with no mention whatsoever from the company, no meetings, phone calls, or even a thank you in the company newsletter. They just unceremoniously dumped off 800 employees and thirty airplanes.

When we were furloughed from "MDA", many flight attendants claimed unemployment only to be told by thier state that they were commiting fraud as there was no such entity as MidAtlantic Airways. Neither the company or the union seemed to care much and it took an unneccessarily long time to resolve. Same goes for getting Tempe and AFA to recognize the former MDA F/As for profit sharing.... one of our flight attendants had to practically kick in doors to get that done. No voluntary meetings or correspondence there from either party.

It does seem a little weird that they are calling F/As, but I know during all of those times it might have been nice to hear a little compassion from anyone at the company, genuine or not. It would have been nice to have a meeting or a phone call with a live person from the company or the union to try and find answers about those events. Instead we had to badger people with phone calls or find out things after the fact on USAviation or a private Yahoo site set up by the F/As.

A base closure/displacement is not a pleasant thing (it's also not the worst thing, but I digress)... You can say a lot about Tempe, but from this view it does seem like they are displaying a better understanding of the human element here, and they shouldn't be faulted for that.

WOW, reading some of the stuff on here I see ya'all can be as mean to each other as some of you are to west crew members. And, here, out west we thought ya'all stuck together, took care of each other and helped one another ....

sky high states: Hate to break the news to you, but wearing this uniform into YOUR CREWROOM (PHX) doesnt invoke a welcome feeling either! My first time there, talk about snide remarks, and evil looks. A few people rose above that and actually were NICE. I will remember THAT AND, NOT BASE MY OPINION on a few to represent the majority in PHX.

And, you trully dont know Pittsburgh then, by your statement. WE DO STICK TOGETHER. We've known each other for decades. We're neighbors, friends. WE'RE FAMILY.

We learn from example since this is what most of us encounter when we wear our uniforms into the east crewrooms (PHL especially). Just like in your observation, it isn't everyone, but enough to make one feel uncomfortable. It will be nice when we are all wearing the same uniform so we won't stick out like sore thumbs to those who harbor negativity when we are in different bases.

I will say that it is rather disheartening to read comments from "one of the family" saying in essence "retire, you are not welcome in our base, blah, blah, blah". Reminiscent of kicking somebody when they're down. From the tone of these remarks my first thought was that the East FAs not only hate the West FAs, but they hate their own, too. I hope you're right and this is an isolated opinion and not widespread! It was sickening to read. You guys can keep hating those of us from the West all you want...we can and do take care of each other over here, but when you hate your own....well, there's not much room for hope.

By the way, if you do come up to the crewroom in Phoenix to pass the time and I happen to be there, I will be one of the first to smile and say hello.

It's not that serious, it's two people arguing about nothing on the internet. Both are upset that they have to commute or give up thier job, one already does, the other will have to. Sometimes people take out thier anger about something they can't control by hoping thier misfortune will also negatively affect others.

Why would anyone be hateful towards west F/As? They are no threat to anyone. I know my friends and I are looking forward to finally seeing some new faces.

Don't mind the Philly crew room. Who hangs out there anywhere- there is one table, a broken TV, and no wireless. We call it Shady Pines. It's a bunch of old people sitting around complaining, talking too loud and glaring at others. Some people are just childish or weird, but in general most of our F/As are really cool and welcoming. You probably just don't see them hanging in the crew room.

As for the other way around, I've had a couple of negative experiences with west F/As, and about twenty great ones. I got a few stares in the PHX crew room but more out of curiosity than ill will as far as I could tell.

Generally on the airplane we stick together. We don't write each other up, and we back each other up whether it's with passengers or scheduling or pilots. For some reason that doesn't seem to translate elsewhere.

If we really stuck together and were a family, if that were the case we would not have the worst contract in the industry and most stagnant conditions. It's not so much a case of one base vs another, more like severe shortsightedness and selfishness that has gotten the US F/A group where it is today.

sky high states: His remarks are out of DESPERATION. He's a JUNIOR commuter, most likely. Obviously, worried over the additional competition to commute to PHL. It isnt about Reserve. Nor is it an example of how Pittsburghers treat one another. Trust me on that one.

INTERESTING, HOW LABOR IS FIGHTING WITH ONE ANOTHER. East/West Pilots, Reserves, blockholders, one base over another, etc.............

Well if labor was unified we would already have fair, industry competetive contracts.

I hope the unions learned a valuable lesson with MDA express pay whipsawing dues paying confusion it was
