TWU or IAM for The Mechanics
"Neither - non-union" should be a choice as should be "AMP".TWU or IAM for The Mechanics
You think we would get our seniority back from the same clowns that gave it up to the TWU for about a year and a half worth of dues. If it were to happen great also we may even get into the IAM pension plan AGAIN last time we pd in 1 dollar an hour for $74.57 a month for every year of service plus the IAM had the 30years of service and out option and all this was back in 1998-1999 it could be better now don't know. But for all the TWU boys out there I would be verrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy worried about the TWU representing you we had the great IAM and we got stapled to the bottom how many pieces of silver would it take for the TWU to sell us out for?? The only thing for sure is it will all happen fairly quickly this was all planned and the company has had a long time to plan.LOL I'll vote for the IAM! That way I'll get back to my old union and get my seniority back!!! 🙂 LOL at least I'll know who robbing me!!!
Is a union even relevant anymore at AA? Delta is making what we all make, and we're going to get what AA decides to give us anyway. I certainly didn't vote for anyone on our negotiating team, who seemed to negotiate with emotion rather practicality.
AA doesn't decide what anybody makes once in bk, a judge will. The judge will listen to what the company wants, then listen to what the unions want. Then the judge will have to look at the pay and benefits for the different employee classifications around the industry. Then the judge will come up with whatever he/she thinks is the best. Now depending on your employee group, you have to look at where you're at in pay, and benefits when compared to others in the industry that perform the same job. The charts are posted on the AA negotiations website.
IN BK, there is a whole lot less focus on looking at the rest of the industry as a basis for comparision than there is on what is necessary to turn the company around. The overwhelming argument goes to the company as to what is necessary to return the company to profitability... and if the real answer is a significant reduction in the workforce (ie outsourcing overhauls) but that can't be accomplished right away because that process takes time, then there will likely be even more of a motivation to cut pay deeper NOW - with no assurance it will be restored in the future. Remember, mgmt now works to protect the interests of the creditors - that is their primary responsibility now.AA doesn't decide what anybody makes once in bk, a judge will. AANOTOK,
we hit the send button at the same time but AA or the judge can't violate minimum wage laws... if they can't make the plan work at legal US wages, then the jobs will be outsourced to places where they can pay those kinds of wages.
<_< -------Unfortunately , That would be the least of there concerns right now! I believe you'll see them excelerate the grounding of the MD80's. Less Aircraft, less work!------- Even with new Aircraft coming on board! It might be in their intrest to pay enough to retain mechanic's...
But only Line Mechanics, screw TUL. This the most important issue on all of these threads. It's Tulsa's fault because George Bush is gone. I wonder what the sitting president has to say about the potentional increase in the unemployment rate?It might be in their intrest to pay enough to retain mechanic's...
