PROVE IT.

I don't have to prove anything, you disprove it.

Then make claims without backing them up just like the company does. Next you'll be studing fuzzy numbers or logic.

700, I was just sitting here wondering WHY does an airline the size of Usairways need TWO maintence bases !! I can't help but think that the membership gave away some $$$ for the right to keep CLT & PIT open to Maintence work ! I don't care which city you close down,, But close down ONE !

Whatever happened to common sense ?? The company is sitting back laughing at this ignorance..

This is a view I have to agree with. PIT is not set up for either stand alone work or logistical support from a size of facility standpoint....but the Schifano's of the world were obligated to protect thier piece of the pie , regardless of the back and forth of the parts making common or financial sense or not.

CLT on the other hand is ideal for supporting the fleet in terms of the size of the hangar..and the size of the distribution center. The kicker being a failure of the past coming back to haunt us all. The failure was not going forward with the second hangar facility that was projected and planned for years ago in CLT.

The PA. U contingent insured themselves that they would always have work..and whom can blaim them? Yet , U wastes money moving parts and planes from pillar to post because of a very protracted mess that will continue to take away from the bottom line.

Then we have the issue of dragging third party facilities into the picture , namely Mobile Aerospace....too much time and money is being lost sending parts from PIT and CLT to BFM (Mobile Al.)...and inturn active fleet planes suffer while waiting for parts to be shipped back to mainline line bases as too much of what we own has been sent to Mobile.

The problem has been and always will be the struggle between logic , protectionism ands what it takes to accomplish a given task on time and in a cost effective manner. Sadly the agreed upon method or should I say the imposed method will fare no better than what we have already been doing.

The statement has been made numerous times here about U not netting a nickle even if all the rank and file worked for free , I for one have to agree with this sentiment....unless the problems and stumbling blocks are removed...and logic not preservation of seperate Kingdoms takes place.

If you read the final offer both CLT and PIT Base MTC will remain open.

The same people that did QC at U are still doing it at ST MAE. U maintenance supervisors are with the aircraft 24/7. If you have to outsource, this is the way to do it. BTW, no aircraft was delivered to MAE when the last A319 was picked up on the 4th so there are NO A320 family aircraft in Mobile that I am aware of.

Some of these 3rd Party Outfits, I wouldn't let work on my Lawnmower! I have a buddy that started at a certain 3rd Party Maintenance Facility(which will remain nameless) this past week. He said you almost need a translator to get a job turnover. About 3 or 4 languages spoken at any given time. A&P's are few and far between, and this company thinks nothing about putting someone with no experience on complex jobs by themselves. He said it's pure mayhem! He has 20 years in aircraft maintenance, including military, and says he's never seen anything to beat it!
He told me one story about a foreign contractor that lit up his "crack pipe" in the smoking area. Why, he forgot that he was at work!

Unbelievable! If these places continue to operate like they are now, some tragedys are bound to happen sooner or later. The odds are definitely for it! I would be leary of putting my family members on a plane maintained by one of these outfits!

Don't hold your breath. The company loves to promise.

No decision has been made on what if any maintenance facilities
will remain open or be closed. That is directly from the companies
spokesman.

And contractors are not scabs. Only if they cross a picket line.

hate to tell you dude but its already on paper.....spokeman say what they're told...
same spokesman that said we'd be going away from a 21% giveback?didn't say which way did he...lol

ah...i think you are wrong here....try sticking your 2 tracks bus heavy,2 tracks 37 q ,all your c check action and whatever else broken drop ins and emegency repairs and you see 700's point as to no single base being large enough for fleet.
