Interestingly enough, I went down to the union office the other day in a hub on one of my many long sits; I saw a wall street journal with all the airlines CEOs and their compensation.. Lead of the pack was Glenn Tilton. The interesting thing was, he made more than Delta, AA, NWA, Jetblue, continental, and Southwest airlines put together. So I engage n conversation with the reps; They told me from outside sources that we are being prepped for a selloff in PIECES. My question is this, why in hell, do we sit around and let the BOD and top management treat us like this after all that has been to save the company. There is no reason for that much compensation and the BOD approves it b/c they are in the same ring. What actions can be taken to have the board replaced and oust tilton?

Buy lots and lots of stock and vote at a shareholder's meeting for directors who will oust Tilton.

UAL sold off in pieces?

Was an unnamed A320 Captain from another airline in your union office masquerading as one of your union reps?

LOL - would make sense - however this has been the buzzz amogst all work groups -of course we will find out on the news - but the bigger problem is management - we do not have a tewm that wants to run an airline - ESOP 2 ??? Who knows but - it will be an interesting year i can sure say that..

Seems like the failed merger between US and UA a few years back may rear its ugly head  .

Along those lines, I still suspect that the reason that AMR is sitting on so much cash--$5.5 billion at last count--is because they think that some Asian/Trans-Pacific routes and/or landing slots at Narita are going to come available some time soon.

If they don't, they can always buy new airplanes with the money. God forbid, they should use some of that cash to pay back the employees for their sacrifices over the last 5 years. 🙁

I am not a Tilton fan but you need to put the compensation numbers in perspective. Last year was an asterics * year in the books for Tilty. The BK exit and his share of the stock gave it an inflated number. His compensation is along the lines of the other CEO IIRC. Again, not defending the guy just putting it in perspective.

As for the selling in pieces, don't believe that is the case also. But stranger things have happened.

I'm gonna say this...LOUD...CLEAR...and FROM the HEART;

I hope and pray that nothing bad, happens to the employees of UAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, along the lines of what MAGSAU said..."but then again, you never know"(or words to that effect)

How Ironic would it be, if AA was able to rectify the ONLY mistake Bob Crandall ever made, (that being) letting UAL grab PAA's asian routes, without a fight, "IF" UA was in a selling mood ??

NH/BB's

While that would certainly be very sweet for AA, it just will never happen. Without the Asian routes, UA would collapse very quickly. Like Pan Am, there just isn't enough left to maintain so many hubs if Asia is abandoned.

And UAL is sitting on 4.2 billion...for what??

Someone plz. correct me if I'm wrong, but does'nt the addition of money in the bank, make for an even more "attractive" target, by someone looking to acquire ??

What I find troubling is that ONLY Parker(LCC) and Tilton(UAL) are constantly talking about M+A's.

Tilton(for SURE) does'nt want to do any HEAVY LIFTING(run an airline), and Parker(the Rummy  ) is only to happy to oblige.

NHBB - You definitely want what UAL has - only the likelihood is extremely slim to none!!! Parker and Tilton may work something out - however as you say -- if money in the bank makes someone an attractive target then AA would be ripe for the picking - LOL yeah right - not with all that debt load!!! KEEP DREAMING ----
