US Airways coming back to GRR? Any truth to that?

With the slot trade with Delta, the local news reported that US Airways will be returning to GRR with service to DC.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this? When? Will it be mainline or regional? Who will handle the local station? There are a lot of people who need jobs in this state and this could be a good thing for our area. I know it won't be a lot of flights, but some are better then none.

We really need to get GRR to grow so the fees can be lower and we can attract some new tails. We are a very high airfare region losing to ORD and DTW.

Thanks.

Dont get your hopes hope, probably be a barbie jet with all the work outsourced not creating any new jobs.

That's kind of what I am figuring will happen. But I, for one, could use a full time job so my asking is selfish in its nature. I know Midwest is outsourced to AA and I think the Beech 1900 of "Air Canada" is outsourced to CO.

I'd just like to see this area get a break and some relief and get our airfares down so more people can afford to fly without everyone driving to ORD or DTW to get the cut in price. Although, add 3 hours of your time driving each way, plus gas and parking...you'd really need to have 4 or more people traveling to make that cost savings make complete sense for the drive to "big city" east or west.

Air Dolomiti is servicing the station?

EN is a duplicate IATA code; there are too many airlines in the world for each to have its own two letter code, Duplicate codes are assigned to small carriers in widely separated areas. In this case EN being used by Piedmont is not so much of an issue, since they do not market flights under their own code.

I had that very same question...and sent a PM to the poster for clarification, but haven't heard back. I know A/D isn't doing it. Piedmont makes sense, but they aren't EN that I know of.

And the station isn't listed on their website job openings. I'll have to keep an eye out.

Ttail I didn't pm you back since obviously I have better stuff to do than to sit around all day on USAV like some of these Senior Mamacitas =)

Gotcha. My question was not strictly my own I see and now I have my answer.

Thanks for the heads up.

How are they going to start hiring next month when the DOT or DOJ have not yet approved of the transaction?

I guess the same will apply to MSN as well?

I'm thinking CLT-DSM, CLT-GRR, and CLT-MSN will all happen as they wont keep those two stations for just one flight.
