US AIRWAYS EAST and WEST SPLIT

Like I said, HP didnt have any money to merge, US with Seabury and Associates raised the money for the merger.

If HP gave US any money to make payroll that summer, it would have to be reported to the SEC, filed in the 10K and approved by the bankruptcy court.

US and HP did not merge till September, after US emerged from Chapter 11.

Dont let the facts get in your way.

And your post says AFTER the merger, summer is before September, the last time I checked.

And glad to see you have to insult and call names instead of debate, you lose any credibility you have with that technique.

Guess you cant handle the truth about the merger.

Hey knucklehead, chill....

Maybe TOGO does not care to debate a child sitting in a corner sucking on his/her thumb. You can't handle the truth. Are you still trying to convince people that Us Scare aquired HP, hired DP as the CEO and moved to Tempe?

How about a little review:

America West Holdings Corporation was an Arizona - based company whose primary holding was America West Airlines. During its acquisition of US Airways, AmericaWest's parent company adopted the name of its competitors parent company, which at the time had the name "US Air Group" and which subsequently became the US Airways Group Inc., after the merger.

America West's corporate offices in Tempe were housed in one of the first commercial high-rise buildings constructed in the downtown area, featuring an "airfoil" motif in the shape of its roof.

On May 19, 2005, America West Holdings Corporation announced it would acquire the Arlington County, Virginia based US Airways Group. The new entity is named US Airways Group and is based in America West's former corporate offices in Tempe, AZ. US Airways Group corporate offices in Virginia were closed, and most US Airways management were laid off. America West CEO Doug Parker became CEO of the merged companies, and his management team remains in control.
Just curious but can you cite the article from where this information comes from?

And it hasnt been US Air group since 1996, guess some reporter got that wrong.

Thanks for the link. That was a good article that I don't remember reading. It seems like we both needed each other. If not for the merger AWA would probably be bankrupt and if another airline had gotten US the article mentioned they only wanted the real estate assets not the workforce.

What I had heard on the payroll issue wasn't that AWA gave money to US to make payroll it was that they purchased an aircraft from US to quickly inject some cash. That money probably came from a third party and just passed through AWA. That's what I remember from a brown bag lunch anyways.

Any financial transactions during bankruptcy would have to be put forth in front of the court and approved, the SEC would have to be notified and it posted in the 10K, GECAS owned the majority of the East Fleet and the east did not sell any planes to the West and lease back, once again it would have to be made public and approved by the court.

US was drawing down on money from the ATSB, GECAS and refunds of payments from Airbus to operate.

From the Educate Yourself Article:

If they can win a slew of antitrust, shareholder and bankruptcy court approvals, US Airways and America West together would surpass discount king Southwest in size, becoming the no. 6 carrier in the nation.

By golly, they were right

HAD been. On Aug 31, 2005 (27 days before exiting BK and merging) US was down to $3 million more than the ATSB was requiring be kept on hand. That was after the ATSB had lowered the cash collateral requirement 3 separate times and had US on such a tight leash that US had to report it's cash balance daily.

Yes, I'm sure that Jeff McClelland who at the time was battling the cancer that would eventually take his life was just lying to us. <_<

Show me the motion filed by US and HP that did this, I was in Bankruptcy court many days and at CCY doing negotiations, US' assets were all encumbered.

For the love of God ...

GET OVER IT.

It is 6 years later, does it matter anymore? We are all still employed, the company is expected to make money this year (as well as the profit sharing we got for last year), grow up and move on.

I see both sides of the arguement with the pilots, and while I have my own opinion (which counts for nothing), it is time for all to get a grip and move on.

Ha! Ha! Good post. I'm tired of reading the "real corporate inside scoop" from people that claim they know even more than Chip.

I think the concern that some of the pilots on the west share is that the east readily accepts its information from people that are manipulating the truth to keep the pilots appeased. It wasn't any surprise to any of us out west that the seniority didn't go DOH. We weren't getting our information from manipulated/shortened/filtered transcripts. A lot of outside pilot groups think that what the east pilots are doing is incredibly stupid. I don't think the east pilot group is stupid, they're just acting on false information.
