.....employed 32,799 full-time workers in November.

The Observer needs to read a little closer......that's actually full-time equivalent employees with every 2 part time employees counting as 1 FTE employee.

Was from the Charlotte Business Journal, not the Disturber.

With almost 33,000 full-time employees in November, US Airways' reported a 3.4 percent increase in employees from the same month the previous year.

US Airways added 1,081 full-time employees from November 2006 to the same month last year, according to data released today by the U.S. Department of Transportation. A full-time employee is defined as one person who works full-time or two people who work part-time.

Some of those positions were in Charlotte, where US Airways hired about 150 new ticket and gate agents last year.

The increase is slightly less than the average increase of 3.7 percent among 20 airlines that submit statistics to the transportation department. That industry average was the largest such increase since Auguest 2001, and the 419,444 full-time workers employed by airlines in November 2007 was the most in any month since July 2005.

This past T/A wanted to do away with the Full Time to Part Time Ratio. Notice it counts 2 Part Timers
as 1 Full Timer..................thats really not the same is it ? Benifits, etc... are all effected.

Thanks

Looks like they are comparing it to statistics from 1976. There is no way in he$$ that full time employment is up UNLESS they are confusing it with Managers hired. 3 percent is such a large increase NOT!

Both then.....

Sounds to me like they are both guilty of being stenographers, simply repeating "press releases". No investigation or attempts to verify facts. They have not changed a bit for at least fifteen years, still posting likely lies as truth. No shame.

I hope everybody realizes this number is completely misleading. Part Time has
grown steadily. They now use two part time shifts to fill one full time shift. This
use to be against our agreement but now it is just one of the many things that have
gone unchallenged. We are witnessing management doing whatever they feel they
need to get the job done for the lesser dollar and at the risk of the workers rights.
31,718 in November 2006, 32,799 full-time workers in November 2007

Do the Math...........1,081 new employees' in one calender year. How many upgrades
were there in relation to that number ??

They just keep making money, I know for a fact, most if not, all new hires in Philadelphia
decline the insurance option upon being hired for employment. They simply can not afford
it. Yes, I know how can they afford not to . Offer a decent wage and benifits package
and you would see a better applicant, simple but so hard to comprehend, hard to admit.

Thanks
