Guess what's coming, see how much a traveler can stuff in 1 checked bag. While this will make less checked in bags, this will create heavier pieces as they put more into a bag.

For me this personally doesn't affect me as I either carry-on my bag or its just one bag checked in.

OK, they charge $25 for the 2nd bag, and say that bag doesn't make it with you, they should refund the $25 plus pay the flier an extra $25 for their inconvenience. We know that won't happen but that would be the fair thing to do.

I do have a question though: prior to this new fee, was US (or any other airlines) enforcing the current luggage weight (& size) policy? It seems to me that everytime I travel I see way too many people with luggage that exceeds the allowable weight (for econ. class, trust me these folks are not paying biz class fares).

Great, then they better add more staffing at the counter to handle all the additional cash transactions that will now take place. Even fewer people who will be able to use the kiosk and skycaps with no more additional help at the counter will make for even longer lines and happier folks.
I also noticed that this applies to ALL destinations. I thought UA exempted Europe.
AND- They better get the news out there in signage and hold voice notices, level off videos, etc.

I've (gladly, because I knew my luggage was overweight) had to pay the overweight charge several times. OTOH, I've had agents waive the fee for me back when I was a US1 or US2.

Just wait for the announcement coming next week:

In the event of sudden loss of cabin pressure an emergency oxygen mask will drop down. This service is complimentary in first class, but all other pax will pay a surcharge of $25 for their oxygen. Exact change is appreciated.

I agree! It was funny watching pax try to hide their third bags while going down the jetway, now it's going to be an even bigger disaster hahah!

I think, now being fleet, my back already feels 10 times better just having heard this news hahaha!

Here's an idea: maybe the FF's, instead of paying in $$$, could pay the company in DM (i.e. 500 for for domestic, 1000 for international). CP's get 50% off.

While I agree with the policy, it should be geared to miles flown. More miles the bag is carried, the more fuel used. So the short hops should be $10.00 and transcon $100.00.

Isn't that what Tempe is saying about the award miles, its about fuel.
