US Airways' Future Destinations in 2007?

We have no aircraft for International expansion and no aircraft orders on the books except a problematic A380 airbus. Philadelphia government officials know this

We still have an order for 10 A330-200s starting in 2008 (it could be 2009, I can't remember for sure); however, it must be somewhat flexible because Doug has said that US can alter that if needed.

ETOPS1 said: "4 of our current east 757's will be etops certified for the summer season."

USA320Pilot comments: ETOPS1 comment is correct. The B757 ETOPS aircraft could provide lift to Brussels and to other Western European cities. For longer range flights, US Airways would need to either realocate B767s to other Eastern European cities, replace current B767 service with B757 ETOPS aircraft (if possible), or obtain used B767/A330 aircraft to fly Eastern European service due to B757 ETOPS range limitations.

I'm not sure what option the company will elect, but before the new service can commence the company must first obtain more PHL "A" Concourse gates, according to Doug Parker's comments in a recent Crew News webcast.

It would seem also from the article that it COULD indeed commence since using the mobile lounges would be an option in the interm. I highly doubt the company would pass up the International revenue when there is another temporary option. Let's only hope that it would be only that...temporary.

Are those the 10 units that looks like 'gate expansions' that can move that are sitting out just past the terminal that never seem to see any use?

Yep thats them. I hate those damn things. Always feels like they are going to tip over. Anyone remember using them all the time at IAD a few years back. They would solve the problem for the short term anyway. Give WN their gate space to fly their 20th flight a day to BOS (i mean BDL) and florida. NOBODY in PHL wants to go to Europe right? OH yeah, great profit they posted as well. Tick tock tick tock on the hedges.

I'm sure PHL will build US all the gates it wants if US will pay for them in cash.

Until then, US gets to play on the same field as everyone else, where a flight is a flight.

This probably speaks to demand more than anything else: there are probably more people who go from PHL-Florida every day than PHL-BRU.

"Build it and they will come."

We didn't have International service in PHL when we first started in PHL....Now look at us!

Look at what US HAS accomplished since it first came to PHL. When Eastern went ba-bye anyone of the airlines could have grown to what US is today, but they did'nt and we did.

I think ANY international destination that we launch will be a huge success! And the city of PHL knows that.
