US Airways' decision to join up with America West looks like a blow for Arlington County's economy, but the airline should maintain its status as a high-volume carrier at Reagan National Airport.
With 1,900 workers in Arlington County, US Airways -- which trails only Verizon in private sector payroll numbers in Arlington -- is still fleshing out its merger plans. But officials from both airlines have said they'll establish their new headquarters in Tempe, Ariz., which would spell the loss of 800 administrative jobs from US Airways' Crystal City offices.
