US/Delta Slot and Facility Swap at LGA

That's true. I guess the passenger will just have to endure the free 10-minute bus ride which operates about every 5 to 10 minutes. Boo hoo.

If they're going to MCO out of LGA, what in the world are they doing on LCC anyway? Can't be saving money if they are parking their car at LGA and paying those daily rates.

Well as more folks book through the other websites i.e. Travelocity etc for low fares they get what the pay for. No idea of what they are getting into. I have seen people going; DCALGAPHLCLTRDU just to get a low fare. Which was really only about $30 lower than what they could have purchased on US. Took them all day to get there. Is it really worth the $30 dollars? They could have drove faster and cheaper.

Wouldn't other airlines come in with service? Keep in mind a large number of congress members live outside the 1500 mile limit. How many would love to see LUV set up shop and have the happy low fare service no one else can offer.

Why the wish for another takeover. It would be better to wish the one you are in gets settled first.

Yeah, right.

Ok...let's look at it a different way. Who is most likely to save US from liquidation if that day ever comes? Politicians. Politicians wouldn't like seeing the airline serving their home market non-stop to DCA go away.

What makes you think that those gaps won't be filled by someone else?

The big miss would be PHX, only because they'd probably re-run the Air 21 beyond-perimeter slot auction.

At the meeting it was stated that when it is completed, we will use 3 gates in D Terminal (old NW gates). With that we will go to PHL, CLT, PIT, ILM

I'd still like to know why we will be going to ILM

Furloughd4now,

According to LGA Station Management the LGA-ILM market is very profitable because of the Film Industry and US Airways' corporate accounts.

ILM is home to EUE Screen Gems Studios, the largest TV and movie production facility outside of California. "Dream Stage 10," the facility's newest soundstage is the third largest in the U.S. and houses the largest special effects water tank in North America. Since the studios opening in 1984, Wilmington has become a major center of American film and television productions, motion pictures, and television shows. Hundreds of films, documentaries, and television shows have been filmed there, which is why the LGA-ILM market is so popular.

Albany International Airport could have upgraded service to LaGuardia Airport in New York City sometime next year following a plan by Delta Airlines and US Airways
US Air spokesperson Morgan Durrant said the carrier would end its regional service to Albany International Airport when the transfer takes effect sometime in mid-2010, if it gets necessary approvals.
While Delta spokesman Kent Landers said he couldn't speak about future schedules, he said Delta would pick up the Albany route. "We'll add or preserve service" to more than 30 small to mid-size markets now served by US Airways Express," he said. "That will include every upstate New York market from LaGuardia."
