US & DL Asset Swap- (All Discussions Merged)

Beginning Oct. 31, Delta will launch new nonstop service from National to St. Louis; Hartford, Conn.; Columbus, Ohio; and Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami and Tampa in Florida. The additional flights will increase Delta's presence at National Airport by 21 new nonstop flights.

So, DL is using the assets it has for the time being. Now, if only US were to better use its LGA assets (like it used to 8+ years ago).

And us via pdt has 14 daily flights from lga to phl on 35 seat aircraft.Real good use of slots and aircraft.3 dash 8's next year come up to 80k cycles.3 less to clog up lga.Why not use these dashes to offer flights to phl from lyh were passengers can connect to the northeast?Or why not increase frequencies from phl to other airports such as roa and other small airports.

Treat lga with service it deserves, mainline to dozens of medium cities waiting to be served. The number one business city in the country and slots are wasted on small cities like ith and btv.Guess it all comes down to use it or lose it on the slots. <_<

the US operation at LGA is an embarassment. Largest air market in the world, Best Terminal at the airport and US flies NOWHERE. Ever since they converted the Florida flying at LGA to MetroJet, the NY operation has floundered at best. Just don't understand it.........

US could turn LGA into a profit center if they would just use their mainline aircraft instead of flying all these express flights. I know UA flies LGA to ORD. US could do LGA to MDW. LGA to PBI. I am just pulling some cities out of my head that seem that they could possibly do well. I know so many folks that are from NY that live in PBI alone.

If flights out of LGA would make more money then where the aircraft currently are they would move them. I love how everyone criticisizes Tempe as bean counters, yet we get post like this?

I find it hard to believe 14 daily PDT flights LGA-PHL is the most profitable way to use those aircraft.

It does boggle the mind why US doesn't fly from LGA to Chicago (either airport) or DCA to Chicago for that matter.

DCA-ORD was tried several years ago and subsequently dropped. Way too much competition for that route to be worth the aircraft.

The company should give the slots away. Nobody wants the money losing slots anyway. The company should focus on PHX and LAS.Just kidding. I thing the question is if they are RJ slots or not. And if the government will control the latter.. The slots are a new game for your PHX gang.Managing the slots has long been a difficult undertaking

The majority of those flights are full. There are a lot of international passengers that connect via PHL to LGA that fill the mid-day flights. With JFK and EWR nearby, it's hard to find markets that are under-served to NYC within the perimeter.

I was told that there is no such thing as rj vs mainline slots. At LGA, a slot is a slot. It is up to the airline whether they assign an rj or a full-size a/c to the slot.
