IF I got stapled to the bottom of AA and made 50 plus bucks an hour, shared reserve with the ole TWA folks, and got a pension, heck yea! Bring it on! DFW never looked so good?!

The TWA folk form only a small percentage of the AA flight attendants serving reserve. There are "nAAtives" with over 20 years serving reserve in some bases (think DFW). The difference is that at AA NOBODY, former TWA f/as included, serves reserve more than 3 months in a 12 month period. Personally, I won't live long enough to get totally free of reserve, but I knew that going in to the job.

The only reserve system that might be better is DL where everyone (except the very most senior) serves a few days reserve every month. And, I'm not sure that is better. On my line ( aka blockholder) months, I know I can trade around for any arrangement of trips I want that does not create an illegality. Reserve days mixed in the month would hamper that ability.

Yes, but thank goodness AA did the right thing to call bk the TWA folk. And most are sitting pretty with there status, top out wage, vacation, and pension. Retirement is looking good for them soon!!! I was just saying, after cosolidation, and all the mergers, IF I am already topped out and have no choice, hopefully if AA or anyother airline takes over, I will have the same or better benefit. Maybe not, but can dream, right?!!

Be careful of what you wish for. You would get stAApled first and then laid off. Its AA's way of doing things.

Officials: Delta-Northwest Deal in Jeopardy Because of Pilots' Impasse

ATLANTA (AP) -- An impasse among pilot negotiators over determining seniority put a $20 billion deal to combine Delta Air Lines Inc. and Northwest Airlines Corp. in "serious jeopardy" as the companies' boards prepared to meet Wednesday, two people close to the talks told The Associated Press.

The people said the pilots unions have agreed on a comprehensive joint contract, but they are unable to agree to how seniority for the 12,000 pilots would work under a combined carrier. The people asked not to be named because of the sensitive stage of the talks.

They said late Tuesday that the pilot talks were expected to continue Wednesday, but if no agreement is reached, a deal on a combination of the two airlines would be in real trouble.

One little correction. The former TW f/as will not participate in AA's pension plan unless they complete 5 years on the AA payroll. That is not an AA decision. That is the Federal law regarding defined benefit pension plans. Vesting takes 5 years on the payroll. They do get their PBGC pension from TW and they did get their TW seniority date for all other benefits--pay status, vacation, travel, etc.

No the law states Allegheny-Mohawk LPPs, it doesnt stop a stapling or demand DOH.

same process was all ready used at US and HP ALPA and you saw its success.
Your statements are totally incorrect. ALPA Merger policy has nothing in common with Allegheny/Mohawk. ALPA merger policy is a process which produces a list and only a list. Arbitrators using Allegheny/Mohawk will more than likely bias there award toward a LOS based rationale because that is what Allegheny/ Mohawk specifies. There is no consideration for LOS using ALPA Merger Policy.

Everyone knows what ALPA merger policy states. The problem is getting two groups of ALPA pilots to follow it. The reason that HP/US pilots are still in the mess they are in is because (IIRC) HP pilots did not think that straight DOH was fair. When they could not come to agreement, the US pilots demanded binding arbitration of the issue. The US pilots then went into orbit when they saw the arbitrator's decision.

Policy is one thing, but it is not law. So, getting people to follow the policy is quite another thing.

Actually, for the umpteenth time, they are the same:

ALPA - the two sides attempt to negotiate an integrated list and if that fails it goes to binding arbitration.

A/M LPPs - the two sides attempt to negotiate an integrated list and if that fails it goes to binding arbitration.

You can even add the new law based on A/M:

Law - the two sides attempt to negotiate an integrated list and if that fails it goes to binding arbitration.
