US to Havana?

Do you think these people will fly MIA to CLT to ride us to Havana? I think not. Will be a nice windfall for AA.

No. That was my point. No one will fly Miami to Havana on USAirways. American has a lock on it even before the flights are authorized simply because of their dominant presence in Miami. We can't compete on non-stops from that American hub any more than we attempt to compete on non-stops from DFW, ORD, DEN, ATL to any other city than one of our own hubs/focus cities.

US couldn't even hold their own against AA in MIA when we tried our focus city at FLL. US and a piddly few flights from MIA? My God US would be eaten alive. We'd throw some rag tag 737's on the route and AA would respond with 10 777's a day. Oh not to mention AA OWNS MIA along with all of the other south american airlines and caribbean. Forget it. Stick with CLT or PHL.

I disagree, No one has a lock on "originating" traffic, and most of the traffic in in MIA. Besides wouldn' t you rather ride on the "carrier of choice"?l

FLL is the way to go.

Maybe US will restore some of the FLA flying and FLL could be a good alternative to MIA for Jose Marti flights.

TPA and MCO to FLL then on to HAV.

US was actually doing fairly well with most of the FLL expansion. What killed it was the customs facilities, or lack there of, and the headaches associated with it, including the split operation between Terminal 3, Concourses E, F and Terminal 4. There were big plans, which probably would have worked, even with NK playing the game, and then Doug and Company couldn't "see" the value in it and ended it. Rhett Workman is the holdover from CCY who was in charge. If anyone in Tempe knows him, feel free to ask him about it.

Actually your absolutely right. I do remember flying in and out of FLL to quite a few cities. I remember some of the cities were doing quite well. That being said we are talking about US back in FLL vs. US flying anything but hub flights out of MIA. AA would KILL US on the route and have the a/c at their disposal to do so. If US was that aggressive in nature they'd compete more heavily on routes to other airlines hubs. You see airlines quite often fly more or bigger a/c between say phx, phl or clt vs. what US does to that airlines hub. US isn't confrontational in ANY way. Look at WN for instance. US doesn't purposely go into a market where THEY dominate. I just don't ever see US flying to HAV and certainly out of MIA. It's almost laughable.

<_< <_< And as usual US dropped the ball at FLL. Full lfights, good marketing with city of Lauderdale. Why is it that EVERYthing, no matter WHO is at the helm becomes a cluster $*2&?
So much potential and well... enough said. Sure hope US begins HAvana when it opens up. Cuba is a great island.

All of the following destinations should be attempted with Saturday only service except Havana, which should be daily.

Camaguey
Cayo Coco
Cayo Largo
Cienfuegos
Havana
Holguin
Manzanillo
Santa Clara
Santiago
Varadero

I sure hope so! Im guessing once scheduled air service between the US and Cuba is allowed you will see 2x daily PHL-HAV and a CLT-HAV flight. Saturday service from PHL-Varadero and Holguin. Im so excited about the chance to visit Cuba. I have seen some of the pictures of the hotels/resorts at Varadero and Cayo Coco and they look absolutely amazing!
