I never have understood the reasoning behind so many different looks, especially for the male employees and in particular male flight attendants.
Why, as two newly merged airlines, would they not have wanted us all to look cohesive? I don't get it.
We went from having two uniforms when we first merged (AWA and US) to having like six uniforms now. It's very confusing to our passengers, TSA, van drivers and hotels. The whole point to having a uniform is to be "uniform".
Also, what happened to male flight attendants being required to wear ties on international? With nine FAs on an A330 you could have nine different looks; ties - no ties, jackets - no jackets, white shirt, blue shirt, striped shirt, red tie, blue tie, striped tie...it's crazy! I guess it sort of symbolizes our identity problem as an airline.
I think management was trying to please too many people. Maybe eventually they will be discontinuing pieces as less people reorder them. I can't imagine it is very economical to keep producing all these different looks.
As far as the quality of the pieces, as a male I have had no problems with the exception of a broken zipper on my sweater. I think the female pieces had most of the issues it seems.
