USAIR Chairmans Preferred Looking to move to new airline

US Flyer is correct. FF programs are major profit centers. If they weren't, they would have been gone long ago!

This is 100 percent inaccurate. The FF programs are profit centers for the airlines, not cost centers. Get your facts straight before you throw stones.

I have my facts straight as I saw the pie charts during the bankruptcies. You get your fact straight!

Show me these pie charts. What you're saying goes against what we've all heard direct from every carrier, through SEC filings, press releases, speeches, etc. Your statement that running the FF program costs more than all salary expenses is ludicrous.

You know we are tied of CP's like yourself. You are what we call the entitled. You feel that you should get everything just because you are CP. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE. The airline industry is changing and it isn't going to get any better. I know you want to pay the cheapiest fare you can and still expect to keep your status. You are probably one of the Roaches who complained when the Dividened Miles Program was changing a few years back. You should tell us what you do for business. I am sure we could all complain about your company just as you do with USAirways. Do you know that the FF Programs are one of the costliest programs in an airline. That program costs more money than paying all of the employees salaries. You should stop your bitching and get over it. Howeer I would love to know what company you work for! I am sure it is like Verizon, Comcast, BBS or some other company that screws people over as you feel you have been screwed!

No not at all. I work for a small start up software company out of Colorado. I always try to get the cheapest flight becasue I am a share holder with the company and try to travel like I am spending my own money.

Most of my flights are last minute (well 3 days before) so I rarely get a 'CHEAP' fare and are mostly spending 700-900 on a RT. I do not feel entitled to anything at all, so get over yourself. What I like about the status is becasue I work in a dynamic field, I am missing flights, or need to get back early to make another one, so I like the standby option to get me on the next flight at the top of the list.
My company is too small to screw people. Its hard to screw anyone when you have lees then 100 FTE's and 200 US customers. I am not at will to post the name of the company as well its none of your business who I work for. Most people travel RT daily in their car. Well I travel RT (almost daily latly) by AC, and when an airline is going to have different levels of prefered (now 4) each level should have more perks to them. At the time I posted this, I was fedup with lost luggage that was finally returned 2 weeks later on a differnt airline (UNITED in Salt Lake) when I flew US to Denver (Still trying to figure that one out, especially when it was a gate check). US was treated their prefered like SH!T, I got better service being Star Alliance gold from UNITED then I did US. And lets face it PHL SUCKS. I would be stuck in IND, CMH, SDF and one time fliers were getting the standby while I am stuck trying to get back out to a different city. It took its toll on me.

Things have gotten a little bit better, for one I am too busy to #### about things anymore, I just accept them, and two, they have ironed out some of the glitches in their system in regards to levels of service. (At least thats what the CP desk told me they were doing to fix the mass exit of US1's.

By all means, I my expectations of US went down the tube about a year ago, so I do not expect anything from them. If I get an upgrade, its like Christmas to me 🙂
What my major gripe was about wa the lack of respect people in PHL were giving US1's to the mom/pa one time every ten years fliers who werent sure why the board shows leaving at 5pm, and its 6:30 with no annoucemnet ever made. The agents would get pissed that someone is asking them a 'dumb' question.

Respect is a two way street. I cant respect an airline and stay loyal to an airline that doesnt respect its customers.

Now like I said, thing are a little bit better, not not like they were.

So there. I have provided a little more reasoning for my what some have called whining. If you USGUY97 cant see that, then you might be one of the agents I was talking about, and are in the wrong line of work. Its an airlines job to deal with customers. If you dont like it, go work for Fed-Ex, UPS. Boxes dont ask dumb questions and you can abuse them without getting attitude back!

Oh, and not every company is out there to screw you. I bet you are one of the customers when your power goes out for 5 minutes in a boomer, you expect to have the whole month credited.
I know I shouldnt have posted this in this forum, but I figuered who would no better and give me better advise then airline employees.

My bad. Live and learn.

Zethya,
IAD is much better. While IAD's facilities are not as nice as PHL; connecting to international flights is less stressful. I made the decision to fly Lufthansa out of IAD last month to Europe -- I could have flown US or UAL, but their business class service and seats are not as nice as Lufthansa's.

I am a USAir CP, and I am about fed up with the airline and the new merger.

My travel with US has been over 120 segments per year leaving out of PHL. I am looking to move airlines. I would like to stay in the Star Alliance, but would like to start using United to fly me for my business.

I am at the point right now where I am willing to do this. The 120 segments I flew last year with US, were no stops from PHL. If I move over to United, I would more then double that since PHL is not a United hub and would have to layover in ORD or IAD.

Can someone give me some information if United even gives comps to their prefered status from other airlines, and if so, how do I go about requesting it? I had flown 127K atcual miles last year without prefered bonuses, and are looking to do the same if not more this year. I would love to give United my money, but I dont want to start at the bottom (AGAIN)

Thanks in advance.
Usair was @ $21.60 per hour till post 911. We gave back to a scale of $17 per hour gave up double time a week vacation sick time holidays so Usiar could survive. In our contract it states we get a snap back if we merge ..We get everything back NOW DOUG PARKER dont want ogive anything back. Our union walked out last week when talks broke down. He has 4 billion in cash with the rest stock options to buy dleta and he hasnt setteled our contracts yet. Its going to a judge in feb. if DOUG PARKER and his CHRONIES dont honor the language in our contract what BS!!!!

If you have access to cash, you can wait out any lawsuit--til the 'other side' gives up. It's all about money and position--not right and wrong.

Um, you should learn something about your industry. The FF programs actually generate a lot of revenue from the sale of miles to credit cards, hotels, banks, etc.

I am really surprised that this thread is still generating comments. The US Airways CP FF originally asked a simple question regarding switching status to another FF program. Because I was a MPI SD, I answered his questions and instructed him on how to keep his status with another FF program at another airline (UA). Mileage Plus is a loyalty program which keeps customers flying United. United generates a lot of revenue for the airline. As airlines merge and consolidate, thus reducing CASM's, you will find FF programs changing. For instance, if consolidation finally ends up with only 3 major legacy airlines, the FF loyalty programs will become less important. Once competition heats up again, then FF loyalty programs become more important.
