I am a USAir CP, and I am about fed up with the airline and the new merger.

My travel with US has been over 120 segments per year leaving out of PHL. I am looking to move airlines. One of my fellow employees who flies Delta mention that I should ask for a comp to Delta's preferred status and start flying them.

I am at the point right now where I am willing to do this. The 120 segments I flew last year with US, were no stops from PHL. If I move over to Delta, I would more then double that since PHL is not a delta hub and would have to layover in ATL or CVG.

Can someone give me some information if delta even gives comps to their prefered status from other airlines, and if so, how do I go about requesting it?

Thanks in advance.

DL often does comp status, but I can't guarantee they will comp you. If they do, they'll probably only comp you to gold status (mid-tier) versus platinum (top tier). Given your flying patterns, I don't think it would be too hard for you to make platinum.

DL is getting better service wise, but flying out of PHL you won't have many options...only nonstops to ATL, CVG, SLC and JFK. All flights to CVG (and most connecting on-ward) are CRJ's which really degrades the value of your status there. ATL has tons of options, but can be a crowded mess. I don't envy you flying from one crowded mess (PHL) just to connect through another crowded mess (ATL).

PHL also has a crown room which will be nice for you.

Oh, poor baby. I have to stop in ATL or CVG to get to my final destination. Welcome to the REAL WORLD!

Just start your own airline or better yet charter an airplane! Go here and you can charter: NetJets

Buh, Bye!

WOW, that was a little harsh, wouldnt you think. I was asking a simple question. To me, that comment was completly uncalled for!
The real world is... If you are fortunate enough to live in a city with a major hub, then you dont have to do layovers, because that hub will mostly service everywhere. If you dont, then you need to go into a hub.

Not my fault, your real world is what you have made of it!

...typically, when you request comp they will also issue some type of "challenge" to make sure you're not just saying that you fly that much. Something like getting gold if you fly 20 segs in three months then gold...then you can earn platinum...

Hmmmm....the airlines will allow passengers to transfer seniority to another carrier but union seniority is non-transferrable.

Don't let the Door hit you in the A$$ !!!!

Thanks in advance.

...much like the many people who've dumped Delta in ATL or AA in DFW, or UA in ORD...every airline has its fair share of unhappy customers and Delta is by no means an exception. They may even have more than their fair share given their business practices before 9/11...Delta did all it could to help AirTran do well.

Oh get over your self no one cares

That's because passenger 'seniority' effects revenue and union seniority effects cost.

The same union senority you say effects cost are the same
people who took care of you when you were a satisfied
customer. The new breed of low paid employees are those
who are now taking care of you as the UNSATISFIED
customer.

Switching carriers, in my opinion, will not really make a
big difference. Every carrier has the same restrictions
on what airport staff can do. Those who have any
type of seniority can handle the situation better than a
new hire.

Now, instead of flying non-stop from Phl you will have
to connect in either Atl or Cvg or Ord or Iad. This
will add many hours to your already busy schedule.

The airlines want to reduce costs however they are
not prepared to do what is necessary to maintain its
high yield customers.

Isn't that the truth. I commute home on several of the "legacy carriers" and rarely encounter any issues worth losing sleep over. What amazes me is the sense of "entitlement" many frequent travellers have, REGARDLESS of the airline.....saw some jerk get real pissy with an Agent at NWA because HE was Delta Platinum and after bashing NWA and how they need to be kicked out of Skyteam yaddayadda..... bottom line is THOSE types are out there and always want "their way".
