So any guesses on who the former Exec was .........................
[post="263787"][/post]

My #1 guess is Ben Baldanza. However, Ben left only recently; so he would've had a better idea as to whether the UA talks have ended or tapered off...

My #2 guess would then be Michael Scheeringa. He left around the time the HP discussions were brewing and the UA talks were more hopeful.

Gee...

If this deal has, "been in the works for months," how come USA320Pilot did not inform us of it and go on ad naseum about it?

I thought USA320Pilot spoke personally with the CEO, media, and analysts, et al and has his "ear to the ground".

Yet all these months, he's been going on and on about a UAL "UCT" as if it was going to happen. For all we know, the anonymous source sited in the article IS USA320Pilot.

Hmmm... Sounds like time for a hearing aid.

on thursday i was in clt waiting to work a trip when i saw lakefeild waiting to board a flt to rsw. i went over and introed my self to him . he wad very ni8ce and we sat and chatted for at least 30 min. i asked him what the deal was. he told me "feul" said that "feul is killing us" i asked him how much longer can we go like this he said that if fule does not go down or "united does not buy us" we will be gone in june. no b/s. thats what he told me. iaske him how is united gonna buy us if they are hurting as well . he said they have a few tricks up their sleeves and he left it at that . but said if things do not change then its over. said that there is no way he will come bakc to labor for more money. the labor costs are where they want them if not even lower. he said he was only at airways to do a favor for a friend (bronner) but he is still here because he admires our passion . that the only reason us is still here is because of the employees. aslo told me that there are many airlines out there that want to purchase airways but only assets not the employees including aw. the only airline that is willing to purchase assets and employees is ual. said that he will not make a deal with an airline that does not have our mainline employees interest at hand.
asked about midatlantic . he said that republic sais that they will honor the midatlantic pilot contract. asked about the f/a and that if they still have recall rights at airways. he said that if hew were a f/a he would not bank on being recalled.
asked about the fll focus hub. he said that it was doing what it was supposed to do and that is drive customers away from amr. said that if it does not work he will pull it. he will not come back to employees form ore money to save it. it makes no sense . asked if the fll hub was moving to tpa . he said that that was pure b/s the hub stays in fll. many more quest were asked . he seemed like a very down to earth individual. take it for what you want. it all came from the horses mouth. he seemed very honest . he told me there was no reason to b/s me. its reality.

liquidation discussions because we can't come up with the last 100 mill??

big fat duh???

This deal is being influenced by GE, Lufthansa and the Star Alliance. The plan is for the new UHP to deliver a transcon network for the Alliance to Europe, Asia and the expansion into South America. U already is the no. 2 carrier in the Caribbean and Central America, and having PHX as a hub will allow more flights from the left coast with direct feed to South Am from the left coast. Who has the money for all of this?

Lots of people. You'll see.

Good old Dan Fitzpatrick.

Take whatever is happening at US Airways, find someway to make it sound wrong or at least difficult to accomplish. Then call up the same old tired sources for supposedly relevant opinons...

And wha-laa, you have another article about US Airways ready for press.

I love the way he started it off, "all the hullaboo" is code for "I am jealous of real reporters with real sources, working at real newspapers, getting the scoop on me..."

Yeap, he's a heck of a reporter that Dan Fitzpatrick. Not sure if it was something we did like losing a bag or misconnecting the guy sometime in the past..., Or something we did not do, like playing up to his reporter's ego.

Either way, IMO this guy has nothing but contempt for US Airways, and his bias against us shows through with his every word.

Being a LCC is more than having cheap labor. The operating model of HP right now is not very LCC in my opinion. It is moreso than the legacies, but not yet a WN or B6.
[post="263714"][/post]

get real.. HP CASM is one of the lowest in the industy 8.29 (4/20/05), (03/05) DL 19.9, NW 10.61, DL 10.58, UA 9.83, AA 9.57, CO 9.42, US 9.40 WN 8.09 & B6 5.09.......B6 still has yet to start heavy MX and that alone is a major chunk of your CASM after labor.

not a LCC.....U even began to model its operation and business plan after HP prior to going to the ATSB to get the loan guarentees.....anyway, HP not a LCC ... silly boy.....

Shorts and polo shirts are too unprofessional!! Let's hope we stay in a professional uniform.

I'm with you on that one. Please don't go that route! Let's be the professional, businesslike LCC.

I'm really shallow... I will not wear khakis and polos.

I love the current US livery. I think they should revive the red scheme for the RJs. HP's livery looks like Fred Flintstone vomited on it.

HP's uniforms, from my vague recollection (haven't seen one in a while and it's nowhere to be found on the net), is nice. I think they had stripes that made them actually identifiable as crewmembers. Unlike US Airways where you could be the shoeshine man in that same generic, frumpy 80's poly-disaster that they put eveyone in.

I really hope this works out well for everyone... I think it could be a great airline!

Okay, so then can I have my happy meal with fries next time I'm in US F?

Bring on the casual wear. It'll go with the casual food.

Maybe he's going to join Ted Reed at CCY and the Corporate Communications Department anyday now.

Here is a photo of our newest plane.

(And no USA320Pilot, you can't fly it.)

I like HP's livery, especially the special paint jobs.

I suggest years ago to upper management that US should follow HP and WN's lead and do some special liveries.

Since US is the official airline of the Carolina Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, I suggested the Panthers Logo on the tail and the same for the Steelers.

For once, we agree...... US has never done anything special to endeer themselves to a group. No team planes, no advertising until recently, nothing...... When SWA came to BWI, there things were instantly everywhere and very visable and we had pretty much nothing.

Is it just me or does the tail look different? Like a 737 tail with the hockey stick shape?

Don't Airbuses usually have the straight line tail, like so?

The paint scheme that US Airways currently flies is very professional.  It was created by the 'wolf" and as nice as it may look it reminds me of him everytime i look up or get on one.  As for America West, the scheme IMO is very festive and very southwestern but kinda reminds me of the flintstones.

Hey, you're not far off! When the new scheme first appeared a decade ago it was quickly dubbed "Jurassic Park" by the employees.
That said, it's still eons better than the Wolfman's mortician scheme (with the stupid Greek flag on the tail) US is saddled with. IMHO, US' colors have gone steadily downhill since the final Allegheny/initial USAir scheme of the '70s/early '80s (the red one).
