Northwest matched the hike today. US is still holding out, but is expected to match on Sat or Sun. HURRY and match before someone rescinds it. The minute someone put it out there we should have matched. What are you guys waiting for??????????? (Holiday is no excuse.)

Fourth of July is a Friday, everyone except me is on a three day bender probably sunburning and playing quarters. They might get over their hangovers by Teusday and do something about it.

Northwest Airlines joined American, Continental and Delta in matching the round-trip $20 fuel surcharge that rival United Airlines announced Wednesday
What were they doing on Wed and Thur then?

For some reason, US is often among the last to match a fare increase and among the first to moan and groan about not being able to raise fares.....

Chug and Scotch are probably disappointed that the fee wasn't high enough. Maybe if it was $90.00 each way they would go along.

C'mon now people, everyone knows that Friday was July 4th and a holiday leading up to a three day weekend. Even Wall Street pulled the plug at 1pm ET on Thurs. Look for a decision sometime Monday maybe???? Tempe is not open 24/7, not to mention the fact its holiday weekend!!! Just how much money could that fare increase have cost the airline in just 4 days anyway??

I doubt we will increase our fares. Our management team is absolutely certain that $2 soft drinks are going to skyrocket us to profitability!

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

with 93% June load factor, I think your company is holding out so it could have a chance to get to that 120% load factor that analyst said US AIRWAYS needed to break even.
The fuel surcharge is like $150 now isn't it? and with the $15 bucks per bag starting [$1.5 million more in revenue a day or up to $500 million more a year] why not raise fares? I mean with a 93% load factor doesn't that say you should up the fares? On many flights your company is now giving out tons of free tickets for voluntary seat give ups. In essence, this 93% load factor is costing the company millions with passengers voluntaring to give up their seat for a free round trip. I have been notified that the voluntaries aren't even taking the bait of a free ticket unless it comes with first class now since all flights are full. WTF?? What the hell is going on???
When the company comes back to negotiations I think all good union people should request the actual numbers of 'free tickets' management gave out and then cost it out and show the company its savings. Any future concessionary negotiations is a scandal of the mind.

If they could just find a way to pack 150 people into a 126 seat aircraft, they might, cautiously, might make a "profit".

"They" will show a "profit" when "they" are good and ready and not a moment before.

i'd love to see any sort of profit at all when fuel costs have increased by more than 100 % from the year prior

You do not have a say.

"They" will determine when a profit is declared. Not you, me, or OPEC. After all, "they" are managers (of money) in addition to people.

Once you realize that "profit" is simply a meme to keep the serfs in line, you might start to see what is going on. Dougie gets a bonus for keeping the serfs in line, for reducing the serf's percent of "cost" to the cash flow. It is really quite simple. The guy gets a bonus to reduce your part that reduces the flow of cash to the "stakeholders". You are an obstacle to his nirvana.

They'll probably put some PR people right on it who will make a big deal about how they resolve NOT to increase fares as if it's going to make them look good. People are begging to just pay the extra $5 or whatever for the coke and the blanket, they'd rather just pay it then be pissed off for the tit for tat tactics.

In other news I just noticed that my posts look like one of those lawns that overdecorates for Christmas and pisses off all the neighbors with the eyesore. SWEEEEEEEEEET!!!

I dont even own a lawn gnome. hahahahahaa.
