"Stupid" Association?

I was just getting ready to contact Helicopper or Biggles and offer my $200 to join, and now that the guy starting it has called it a "Stupid" association, I'm putting my money back in my bank account.

Magseal,

I don't even know where to start. I mean, how bloody old are you? I have two kids that don't get on with the kind of crap you do.

You are the most annoying figure to ever grace this forum. Your constant BS, whinning, personal attacks and pointless drivel never end. I honestly think it was YOUR appearance here that has dragged this forum down to where it is now. It used to be a lot of fun, very imformative and was a GREAT medium for meeting some really good people.

Now all we see are attacks and never ending pointless agruments. (I won't even start on the internet stalking - I have never seen anything like that.)

I hardly ever look in here anymore and I know others who don't waste their time here either.

Please find something constructive to do with your time.

At the risk of offending someone other than Blackmac, who we know will take offense, regardless, it sounds to me like we've got an 'apples to oranges' discussion going again, if not plain semantics problems. Surely no-one disputes that, with enough power, we can handle any damned thing and technique be damned. When we're marginal for power, however, (it does stilll happen once in a blue moon, doesn't it?) technique is certainly going to matter - 'little' things like avoiding vortex ring come to mind. Aren't we into the difference betweetn horseing a log off the hill and finessing it? B)

hmm, find something constructive to do...hmmm

I guess speaking my mind on whatever i feel like it isn't constructive in your books. Maybe we should rethink the whole open forum idea. How about posting something constructive yourself. I don't need to make excuses for Blackmac, but I will call him out on anything I feel is not just right in my eyes (as I would for anybody). He can defend his words or he can dig a bigger hole. You can always look the other way every time you see my name. Don't waste your time reading the useless crap I post. I won't waste my time on yours.

Can't agree more Mag, once again Don has shot himself and HEPAC in the foot again.

BTW with Your post frenzy today are You trying the take advantage of 407's fire preoccupation to pass him on the post leaders??

:elvis:  :elvis:

naw, i'm not out to dethrone the new king from his roost.

I can see somebody taking offence to me again, and we all know where that'll lead. He'll have plenty of time to spread the gap again.
I guess though with almost 630 posts one has to expect that there will be a wide variety of posts. Just got to be careful who, and how many people you offend each and every day.
By the way Elvis, did you used to find this forum fun? and when did you notice it went downhill? I still find it fun and I've been here from the beginning. Did it start going downhill then? I never noticed.

Mag,

The only thing that went downhill is theamount of beer drinking in Alberta...after you left! People once again don't realize that alot of us know one another in here from past and present employers. Alot of inside jokes and jabbing! Good clean fun...I can take it, cause I can give it too...

Hey, everyone lets have fun.......People, lets not get too serious..

Getting back on track again.... It seems to me that if you don't have the skill and finess, then the extra horsepower only means you can lift a heavier wrecking ball!

For all the great LONGLINE PILOTS:

A simple question was asked by Auto Relight and a simple answer was originally given by me.

You guys are trying to make it sound like you are all something other than experienced at longlining.

Technique comes with experience, right.

More power is required to hover out of ground effect, than in, or am I missing something.

MY ORIGINAL QUOTE:
So all you super dupper pilots tell me what is the great technique required of a pilot in longlining other than practice and common sense that most pilots that are still flying, have.

Cheers, Don

PS: Keep the personal attacks to your self.

well depends what you r doing if u set a tower a 10000 feet, yes u need a lot off power to hold the load until the bolts r in, the only technique there is to hold the load steady. When u slinging bags on the prairies or logging u can get a lots of loads of the ground using technique....All depends what u r doing and where u r doing it...

the power may have gotten you to ten thousand feet and helped you keep the load there, but the technique is what placed the tower. I didn't see a magical Genie appear and gently place the load where is should be, The guy with the talent holding the sticks got it where they wanted it.

Sorry Blackie. Can't agree. Just because you have experience it doesn't always follow that one is good. I may have experience playing baseball but it doesn't necessarily follow that I'm any good at it or could have ever made it to the "show" no matter how hard I tried.

Interesting posts so far. Now who wants to let me learn!!!???? 🙂

From what I can tell about flying these things so far, is that with great technique, you can do a lot more with the available power and be much easier on the equipment. ie. less time in transients and over torques/temps. Being able to finesse anything makes the action easier, whether it be skiing steeps or gates, maxing out your speed in a sailboat etc.

SO FAR, that's what I'm getting from this - thanks again
