Before I get my head ripped off.. I am merely asking if people feel that the T/A that will probably be brought back by week's end will have saved jobs.. And if, so, how do you think this will have been accomplished.

The jobs for wages is a non issue. The company will do exactly what it need to so it can compete with other carriers. Now if your talking about Tulsa being an OSM station so line can get a fair wage I see your point but to expect line stations to give money back to keep jobs in Tulsa your dreaming. AA is going to outsource all the OH it can regardless. Let the dog and pony show continue.

As if the line stations have a say in what they get paid. How about unlimited OSMs at the base/bases and line hangers PLUS the lowest line pay in the industry? That is the winning combination the company is looking for.

Or a new B-Scale? Where there is a transition to the OSM wages over time and possibly as the new aircraft arrive....

I guess that would be more digestable than a "one day you make AMT pay and the next you make OSM pay" But remember, Horton has insisted that we are in dire straits and every day our situation gets worse. So I get the feeling that gradual isn't in his vocabulary even if it makes more sense from an operational point of view.

Considering i am a FSC in PHL, I'd rather give up pay than jobs since my station would be one of those outsourced. I'm still upset of the outsourcing of overnight cabins in the 2003 contract. During a union meeting I asked the 501 president at the time "Why are we giving up jobs rather than a few % more on our pay, we can always get money back, but never jobs?" His response was "Our driveways cost more than your homes down here in Philly, we just cant give up anymore pay." Nice response don't you think.

I disagree. They will always need a certain amount of people to run the business. I would rather get recalled to a well paid job with good benefits after a layoff than have my quality of life slowly drained away through continuous concessions. Of course, if you are in a class of worker that is easily outsourced, that may not be a good philosophy.

The big problem with the large industrial catch-all unions is that they will always fight to keep more jobs, no matter what the pay. A low paid worker still pays dues while a laid off worker gains them nothing.

Allowing a 5 year recall will allow a lot of people to fall off and then would have the wonderful opportunity of hiring in at starting wages, if anyone would want too. I doubt if there will be much recalls with that time frame.

How do you think the TWU will save jobs?

A. Have all members take paycuts
B. Convert unlimited numbers of AMTS to OSM at the bases AND at line station B checks
C. Combination of of the two.

Oops, you forgot one

D. Cut Fleet Service Clerk pay only...we all know they are overpaid! 🙄

Since the work groups are not being negotiated separately during the bankruptcy, at least for the TWU, the question of a single group being over or under paid means nothing.

So true see my article postings in TWU Negotiations. Thread.

They will always need people and the MRO's cannot get mechanics and those that plan for aviation maintenance are afraid that no one will be available in the future.

From the line point of view - none of above. We are below industry standard, we need a raise now. OH - you take your own decision is not up to us at the line.
