My experience today LAX-CLT:
A few complainers. Not too many takers, mostly waters. The water bottles were sold for $1, not $2, but the cans of soda/juices were sold for $2.
The FA keps repeating "Does anybody care to purchase a beverage today?" as she wheeled her cart down the aisle.
Thats the best idea EVER.If they're committed to this, then I wouldn't mind it at all. Set them up right next to the boarding line. Remember that hideous AA Bistro thing that American had in the 90's? They had this huge tub of who-knows-what food sitting next to the boarding line and you could grab them on the way onto the plane...free of course...
Come to think of it, US can take one or two of the Juniper/Barclays vultures, setup up a concession stand and rake it in BEFORE the flight...let them board the plane with all of that food in-hand. Sounds like a great idea. I can just see it now... Then the question...to tip or not to tip?

Thanks for the clarification. I'm sure I read that bottled water was $1 in the closed thread, so I looked through it and found it:
Just the thought of that brand new A321's beautiful leather seats dripping in snow-cone juice makes me shiver with anticipation.
There is plenty of potable water on board the aircraft, free of charge. Just like everywhere else in the world, drinking fountains remain free; bottled water you must pay for.Bottled, purified water is the greatest ruse perpetrated on the American consumer since US Airways First Class.
You take the BASE INGREDIENT of every soft drink (purified water) and you put it in a bottle and sell for the same price as a soft drink without doing anything else to it.
And, for those of you who don't know what purified means...it's typically municipal tap water that's put through reverse osmosis.
It shouldn't be $2. It should be free.
So why do so many FAs make icky-poo faces when I tell them I’ll take two cups of potable water if they don’t have enough stock to give me a full can of soda water?<SNIP> There is plenty of potable water on board the aircraft, free of charge.

If and I've heard the answer is yes I can get a reciept for anything I purchase in coach then frankly I don't care what they charge.
Think about it, which is better? A coke that you buy out of your own pocket or one you can get a reciept for and turn in on your expenses?
Granted a free coke is better and should be the norm, but on the Flying Trailer Park it isn't. In the end if $4.00 is going to break you then maybe youcan't afford to fly.
