here and there
I'm a Northwest ramp employee reading and trying to muddle my way thru all this arguing about who's airline is better and wether we are union or not. Come on folks, we all know this merger will happen , no matter what we do. And why does everyone always complain about how much money the CEO's are getting , we can't do anything about it ! Let's just get our heads together and do the best we can at protecting what we already have !

Absolutely. Time to help ourselves, and put asside rumor mongering.
For starters if we can all realize that we have a vested interest(years seniority, retirement, etc.), then perhaps we can agree that self help is available through organizing ourselves into one union.

I just personally feel that we have tightened our belts to a painful degree and executive compensation is out of whack with the industry. I understand pay for merit is an out dated philosophy in the corporate climate but why are they compensated to such an incredible degree when the rest of the work force is not making ends meet? How can they be compensated in the millions and yet there isn't enough money in the budget for us to earn a livable wage? That is where having a contract kicks in for me. Their contracts insure their salaries to be in the millions regardless of the profitability. With a voice, we can weigh in on such matters. Without a union, we are more or less agreeing that things are equitable as they are. As you might imagine, I beg to differ.

I second that, I work for Delta on the ramp in LAX. We support the F/A's in their quest for unionization. I hope dept. 120 will follow. Keep up the good works. Union Now!

There are several of us here to help you. Just let us know. We "will" have to work together to make this thing work. I myself having had a union all my career, would rather have "some" protection than none at all. How do you guys deal with management? one on one, and then your at their whim?.................................

Why does everyone always complain about how much money the CEO's are getting , we can't do anything about it!

The whiners are the "wanna be's". In other words if they can't have it, no one should.

The people that whine about the salaries CEO's get, do it because they are to LAZY to go to school and get an education that would allow them to make that kind of money. If you are satisfied with your job quit the complaining. You knew what the top of the scale was when you signed on.

If you don't like it, quit and do something meaningful with your life. This is one of the reasons our country is going down the tubes, everyone wants something for nothing.

When the company finally gets it's staffing requirements down, the whiners should be the first people to go. Everyone would be better off.

I think your are absolutely wrong....

When an employee is told they are making more then market rate yet can't afford to feed their family, can't afford to get sick, can't afford to take a vacation, etc.....Yet the COE's are getting 200 to 300% more then market rate something is wrong!

Anyone who stands by and does not acknowledge this will be walked on their entire life.

This is a really stupid statement; "The people that whine about the salaries CEO's get, do it because they are to LAZY to go to school and get an education that would allow them to make that kind of money. If you are satisfied with your job quit the complaining. You knew what the top of the scale was when you signed on." :stupid:

What the hell do Lawyers know about running an airline? They haven't done very well so far! I think one/some of the most educated airline CEO's would have been in the business gone through the ranks and yes may not have a fancy degree.

If it weren't for the whiners and complainers you'd be taking it up the arse daily and asking for more. Maybe you like that kind a thing. I say the one's that become complacent like yourself should be the first to go..... :bleh:

I don't think we are whining here so much about the money as we are about how DL employees are getting screwed on their sick leave/vacation//bumping rights/medical coverage/holiday pay/etc. There is definitly more to it than pay!

I agree with borescope!
America is A great place , You have the opportunity to strive for all you care to do.
Don't #### about " oh my life sucks I should be CEO" , "why do only the pilots make good money", If you didn't take the steps neccesary to be a CEO, Or pilot.
If you don't like your lot in life do something to change it, Don't whine.
You can do anything your'e not too lazy to do.

REALLY???

When I was hired, they were thrilled that I have a degree. I was thrilled to have the earning potential of over $60K. I bought a house, lived by my means and then the rug was pulled out from underneath me. I now barely earn $41K after my pay and benefits have been cut by 37%. I can barely pay my mortgage, every month is a dance between over draft and living off of credit cards. In the last year, I have lost most of the equity in my house due to the market.

I spent two years after the cuts looking for another job but regardless of my degree, after 19 years as a flight attendant, I don't bring any experience and starting salaries were around $19K.

Whining.......yes maybe so. I didn't choose to cut my salary. I don't have any ability to recoup what they have taken from me. If the executives had taken as hard a hit as I have, I would think we are all in this together, but the inequity is overwhelming.

If I broke my arm tomorrow, I would be homeless in a very short amount of time.

This isn't what I signed up for, but now I have no where else to go.

Walk in my shoes brother!
