What happened to "Phase II" at FLL?

I wouldn't be surprised to see HP jump in here... right now I'm seeing 3 daily FLL-PHX frequencies and an FLL-LAS flight.... I can see them adding a frequency or two & coordinate with the Jamaica/DR/CUN/EYW flights.

Oh, HP finally moved over to E. Presently using 4 of US's old positions. If the line couldn't get longer @ that airport!!!

Phase II? They needed to get Phase I right to begin with. Anyone who has worked those flights knew what a disaster the int'l arrivals were.....landing in ISLAMABAD was a more pleasurable experience  The market out of South Florida was there to coddle (AA has an iron grip on MIA and will never be threatened there, BUT FLL has critical Latino populations that want to visit their homeland). It is a KNOWN fact the South Fla population center migrated north to the metro FLL area after 'cane Andrew........hopefully Mr. Parker & Kirby will REEXAMINE this venture and truly dedicate ourselves to the market.

First they need to get Phase Ia into place. That's where the Immigration Agents, who are so pissed off that they actually have to do some WORK for their paycheck for a change, get a life.

Like another poster said, this was Ben Baldanza's plan.

So the accurate answer to Where's Phase II? It's called Spirit.

It is a shame though-parts of the plan would have worked really well...

My best to you all...

asked one of the CCC's about this. Said they are redoing the banks, which is visible in the Feb schedule. Said they put in too many flights at the same time and it was killing not only customs, but the entire station, as they had a 10am arrival bank, 10 planes leaving at 11am, with 10 arriving at Terminal 4 at 430-530pm, then they'd have to have teams tow them BACK to the E gates.

Now they are spreading out the flights a bit. SDQ will leave at 1115AM and 7PM, CUN is at 1130AM, MBJ is at 1100AM...

expect to see some additional "Express" flights in and out of there, very soon, and not just domestic. (I know this doesn't help our mainline friends, but it at least gives us leverage against Chautauqua/DL).

I noticed Republic is getting the FLL-EYW/MCO flying in February.

I'd have liked to meet SegmentKing, but if I ever need to fly to EYW, it'll be on another airline.

Oh, and I heard that US is giving Air Canada 2 of its gates at FLL so they can move in together. Guess that'll put a little cramp on any future expansion plans.

And to add on to the Express int'l expansion plans that SK mentioned above, PSA just recently applied to the DOT for a boatload of authorities to most every country in the Carib and Latin America.

Well I have loved working at the station level, but I may no longer be part of the USAirways family in February when Republic takes over the flying. I've been offered a job with another airline in Ft. Lauderdale and another airline wants me to do their sales & marketing on a consultant basis (part 121 carrier too!)... these new opportunities are more along my line of work... just need to sign the contracts and relocate (yet again!)

Plus my posts here, which by my own fault, have been noticed (and tracked) by our management, so I have no opportunity to grow at USAirways...

I'm confused. Spirit had this plan in place before US Airways. They filed for the routes first (about a year earlier) and a check of the DOT filings confirm this. The lead investor, Oaktree, just lured Ben Baldanza to carry them out. So why are people saying that it was Ben's plan and Spirit took US Airway's plan?

Best of luck to you. More talented employees this company is chasing away...

NK's plan was to fly to the Caribbean, yes, but BBB has fine tuned that plan based entirely on what he did here, and the inside info he knew about US. For instance, NK added FLL-KIN immediately after Ben got there, because he knew how well it had performed for US. I can't believe they didn't have a noncompete clause in his contract. Idiots.

i thought U ran when AA ramped up out of MIA in retaliation, and dumped the FLL plan.
