What's new

Who are they kidding?

42K? Someone failed or is not subject to a mandated drug test!!!!!

They got the decimal point in the wrong place and left off a zero. It shoudnt be $42000. it should be $4,200.00. Thats more like it at least. Someone has got to be smoking something or I want a raise NOW!

Wow, express pays more than mainline? I'm sure it was meant to be $24,000. Either way, that would be $12/hr. Is that the starting salary now for new hires on the ramp? Or, that "$42,000 year" could be working full-time on two 8-hr shifts with tons of overtime. I think when I first started the airlines, I was hired by CC Air for something like $8/hr. Yikes!

Here is a quote from the link. I think it is supposed to be $8.25 per hour. Mesa cannot afford to pay that amount. Does anyone know Mesa's top out wage? I'm guessing this is Mesa, since they are the only US Express carrier in PHX.

Starting agent pay is $18.25 per hour with a 10 cent per hour increase upon successful completion of a 6-month probationary period with subsequent annual increases.

Yeah its posted 18.25 and hr I guess management figured they need better qualified help than what they have been hiring! (not!) I mean for that kind of money they could start getting quality help instead of fast food worker kids who don't give a sh_t !

Lets see how fast this ad is corrected and the hiring firm is fired for false ads......

oh and this part of the ad killed me "This is a tremendous opportunity in a continuously growing organization. We are proud to offer competitive salary and benefits, excellent advancement opportunities, and a positive, values-based work environment.

You have got to be kidding me!

What does 'compensation' really mean? Can it include for example your free flights per year? Just curious. Could it mean other benefits such as retirement, health benefits, stock options, etc.? If this is a starting salary and lets assume it's true, it would seem that an applicant can sue if it wasn't the right amount. Personally, I don't think that an airline would put itself in a situation that would result in a lawsuit.

This is just a situation where you need to examine all the 'weasel' words to find the true meaning. There are also discouraging situations that are meant to weed out the undesirables. Example is that you need to push and pull up to 200 lbs. because our passengers are X-TRA large...wait isn't that a skycap's job???

Either way can't those established workers bid on that 42K job before they hire off the street? Again...just curious! B)

Think About IT!!!

That is correct. The ad said 42K in compensation not salary! These are two distinct things, and quite different. When you factor in the company's cost for benefits it is not unlikely to have compensation worth 42K.

Don't know if this is a line of BS, so you decide...

A US Airways source claims they make $18.85 an hour, BUT only work an average of 30-35 hours a week. When you factor in benefits such as medical, etc., the amount becomes a mere pestilence. They claim they don't get ot unless they work over 40 hours.

As an indepedent observer, if you factor in the customer bs you put up with this becomes a minimum wage job in the long run.
