Will American offer its employees any "packages"?

As far as the long lines responding to a hiring call the question is how many of those that would be desperate for an airline job are capable, drug free, felony free and have a 10year verifyable past?

Oh well, now. If you are going to get picky!

Delta Employees whose age and years of service add up to 60 will be able to retire with some transitional medical benefits, lifetime travel privileges and one week of severance pay for each year of service, up to 39 weeks. Employees must have up to 10 years of service to be eligible, the company said.

Not to bad. If AA were to do that, I am sure they could get a decent amount of people to take it.

In a heartbeat.

In a heartbeat.
<_< ----- Skydrol, You can be bought off cheap!------ "Transitional Medical"! What does that mean?---- For six months?------ Pass for life! -------If fewer planes are flying, the ones that are, will be full! Fewer empty seats for non-rev's!------ 39 weeks pay, O.K.! But the Medical is the big thing! That's a deal breaker in itself! One stay in the hospital now days can set you back thousands!-------I'de have to say, no deal! ----- And we're talking only those who's age, and time employed, add up to 60!!! So that person would have quit an investment in time with the Company!

For many in my area, just a simple 5 and 5 would suffice.
Look for a replay of 95. They will "sort of" make an offer of a 5 and 5 and work out the details if the contract gets ratified. "Did we say 5 and 5? I dont recall that." The TWU will again say "We'll get em next time".

Dunno... If things stay where they are with fuel, I don't think AMR would want to wait for negotiations to run their course...

There is a downside --- if you clear the decks (or docks) of a good chunk of guys eligible to retire within the next five to ten years, there's also less resistance when it comes to discussing freezing of pension plans...

All they would have to do is offer a 10 year contract with signing bonus up front, locking in cost of living raises and a few Holidays and/or Vaction back. Setup windows for the 5 and 5 early out that last throughout the 10 year contract so that the majority would benefit along the way, just some of them later rather than sooner. Base these windows on age not seniority.

Then the majority that would oppose freezing the pension would at least let you hire their replacement without a defined pension. Those that are younger than the 10 year window (45 yrs old) could be bought out of the defined pension plan and transfered to 401K match.

This has probably already been offered but our ultra secret negotiators will never tell us.

Not familiar with AA jargon, ( former TWA, regarding retirement we got stiffed by Uncle Carl) what does 5& 5 mean?

Add 5 years of age
Add 5 years of seniorty

For the purposes of Retirement Calculations.

<_< ------I assume AA did offer this 5&5 at one point in time? Probably cleaned the place out! ------- It would do the same here!-------What are the chances of them doing it again? I give it about a 20% at his point in time! I just don't think it's going to happen! But if your going to dream, dream big! 🙄------You want to get reed of the exTWAers? This would be a way to do it!!!!

Before the 1995 sellout agreement, it started with a massive recall, which was followed by what was the worst contract in the history of airline labor--later to be surpassed by the 2003 special. The contract which passed by a handful of votes mainly due to the retiree 5 & 5 crowd and the recalls. This contract brought about the SRP program, now OSM, which was included in the Oklahoma Quality Jobs program budget prior to the contract vote. The program pays AA a certain percentage for each job created, despite the contract losing just as many jobs because of the 5 & 5. Fast forward to 2008 and the massive recalls, rumor or rather feelers going out about a package for retirees, and it's 1995 all over again. BOHICA...

That is correct and I have had my fill.

But I am ready and groomed now as long I get mine brother.

If I get included in the 5 and 5 arrangement I will become one of them.
I hate going to work for this place, yet a full replacement as a second job is impossible.
Early out with a pension, plus another job for my own sanity would do me just fine right now.
