Will Usair Make It?

Nope.

And before Rico accuses me of being a negative nabob, here's why....

These latest concessions (if the IAM groups ratify) won't be enough to ensure survival. Structural change to create an efficent operation must be accomplished.

The irony is that the structural change would have done the trick (at least in the near term) but management wasted the last year plus working over the employees.

Don't believe it? Take 1-1/2 to 2 cents off our CASM for the first 9 months of this year and see the effect on the bottom line. Conversely, the interim pay cuts provided more short-term cost savings than any of the ratified agreements will and we still lost nearly $2 million a day in November.

Now we're almost out of time to accomplish the structural changes. March schedules for the flight crews will be out in a few days - that pretty much sets everything in stone that far ahead. Feb schedules were set nearly a month ago. Where are the structural changes?

I agree with BB. I thought the effeciencies should have been instituted last March or atleast the moment the interim cuts were effective. It was one of the many problems that I had with them asking the employees for more money. The FLL expansion is about 1/3 of what I was hoping they'd inact (and ironically it's 3x the action that I was expecting).

Where's the BOS expansion? and are we advertising the DCA expansion in DFW, IAH and other large cities?

Jim..................You are right on the money...............It is just the last dance before they turn off the music and turn out the lights.........

Cynical,

I'd go further than that. Shuffling flying from one place to another isn't becoming more efficient. Flying the airplanes more per day, rolling the hubs, replacing smaller RJ's with larger ones, etc is becoming more efficient.

Where's the 10-15% more A/C utilization, where's the depeaked PHL hub, where's the renegotiation of affiliate express contracts (or cancelling some), where's dropping gates we don't need (except for PIT where it looks like the airport is taking some back to lease to WN but we're still paying a premium for all but 10 of the rest), etc.

Glug Glug Glug..

Man the pumps..

She's going down Captain and I don't think we save her!!

By god then get me a lifeboat I need to get off. (Lakefield and Broner)

I'm sure Lakefield and his execs are putting on their bras, pantyhose, and dresses right now so they can be first in the lifeboats.

The only way this place survives is for the employees to believe and trust their leadership. That is not going to happen as long as the Alabama gang is here! 🙁

We should easily make it, once the IAM contract is in place we should be the lowest cost operation around (minus fuel cost) Will be around

What convinced me was why did they give the retirees their benefits back? Seriously...at one point, they found it "necessary to our business plan looking forward...".

Then, they cut a deal. My money says they know the short term hassle and negative press will weigh US down, just cut a deal to shut them up (no more confrontations at the Courthouse)...when we tank, it won't matter anyway.

i believe that usair will survive. the judge gave this inept mgmt vampires the right to throw the labor contract out and the pensions as well. i think the judge also put a no job action clause in it but not sure. and today usatoday reported that the atsb is poised to allow usair to use the collateral money for the winter months.

We are going down and down fast.

The company wants to get rid of the experience personal
and replace it with WHATEVER they can find.

The Whatever's won't care and then the passengers will not like it even
more and then there she goes down to the bottom.

I have given 20 years to this company and feel they have left me and
ALOT of others standing at the alter.

What a shame to see this happen.

GOD BLESS US ALL.

MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BOARD AND THE CEO'S
MAKING THERE MONEY......

FORGET ABOUT US

I agree on all points here.

The Pollyannas on here are in deep denial because when customers lose faith nothing else matters, and guess what......
