What's new

YOU GOTTA BE OUT OF YOUR FURPING MIND!

Expect to see the same deal in about 6 months attached with the "best we could do" letter.

Wow, a 1.5% boneus three times. I wonder if the TWU had a counter offer that was any better?

The big question is when are the TWU Union Leaders going to tell the company to pound sand on the working together programs?

Little complained that support was eroding for these initiatves unless tangible compensation could be had immidiately.

Well, if that proposal is factual, then Little and all Local Leaders need to write letters similar to the letter the Pilot Leader wrote, and I mean last week, not next week.

Of course, we could instead ride a TWU Blue Zebra down Amon Carter Blvd. with a banner on it's back claiming we will "get em next time".

If Little doesn't direct ALL Locals to get out of the ass kissing now, then his credibility with Arpey should be considered non-existant and instead he should be considered nothing more than a snibbling little coward using false threats to negotiate for the membership.

Hold on folks the ride is going to experience turbulance.

Where are all the pro-company supporters on this one?

After giving back $20,000 a yea,,this is what they want to restore..

I love the restoration of another vacation week for 5 year or less employees...Does anyone know of any 5 year or less mechanics?

Basically the company is offering nothing but more concessions.

Its clear that the company realizes that they have made themselves "unattractive" to the labor market thats why basically the offer is completely self serving. Even the offers were concessions.

1) Three additional holidays at 2X rate.

The company is seeing a high rate of sick calls on what used to be holidays. Economically it makes sense to call in sick on the holiday instead of working for half pay or for free thats the reason for 2X. The three extra days are because at 5 holidays AA falls way behind most big corporations in Holidays and Paid Time Off.

2) No more half day sick pay.

Since the company put half pay sick into effect sick time costs has increased. Most workers call in sick for a week whereas before they probably would have only taken a day. There are less occurences, which is the basis that the company uses for discipline, but more days are used.

3) Members with 5 years or less ,,,,,

Once again, this is so they can get workers in the future. Who would work for AA if you only get 5 days of paid time off a year when most big companies offer at least 20 days? The company will try to continue to mislead people into counting holidays as PTO and with the extra week for new hires claim they are with 2 days of the norm instead of 75% less.

4) Three one time payments of $1000.

Hmm agree to no payraises, in other other words continue to give over $20,000/year back to the company in exchange for a $1000 check. Thats even worse than the 2003 deal where they put a 1.5% yearly increase in.

5) and 6) were pure concessions, no need to elaborate.

Unfortunately, in about two years this will pretty much be what Jim Littles TWU brings back (with the addition of company selected crew chiefs) to the members unless the members put pressure on the company to settle al la JFK Siege or get rid of the TWU.

Junior guy in SAN has just over 10 years.

Note how The Worthless Union still doesn't detail the company's proposal in its entirety.

The company’s offer was in part as follows;
1. Three additional holidays for a total of eight (8) at 2x hourly rate.
2. No more half day sick pay
3. Members with five (5) years of service or less would receive one more week of vacation totaling two (2) weeks of
vacation.
4. Three (3) $1000.00 payments May 2008, May 2009, May 2010, also a variable compensation package.
5. Changes to the Retiree Medical (GONE)
6. Remove the cap from the Air Seat Mile agreement between AA and AE

"In part?" Why not detail all of it for the dues-payers?

How much "variable comp?" Given the TWU's failure to negotiate sufficient upside in 2003, I wouldn't trust these clowns' ability to correctly analyze any variable comp proposal.

What are the cowards afraid of?

You guys really need to remove these clowns. You give them 2 hours of pay each month? What for? T-shirts? Slogans? What do you get for all that money?

Does the elimination of Retiree Medical include those already retired, or is it just elimination for future retirees? In either case, it's a chicken sh*t thing for the company to even offer, much less for the union to even consider accepting.

<_< ------They eliminate Medical for retires, and they'll have the oldest work force in the industry on their payroll! People just won't retire!!! You think MCIE is bad! Can you imagine TUL, and AFW, in the same age bracket?

Don't just take FWAAA's word for it - here's the hot off the press official TWU response to this baiting "leak" of the proposal:

http://www.twu.org/divisions/air/pdfs/10112007update.htm

Dear Brothers & Sisters:

On October 3, 2007, informal talks between Transport Workers Union and American Airlines ended without any agreements having been reached. Naturally there has been a large amount of curiosity and speculation about what was offered during those discussions.

This week all American Airlines System Local Presidents have met and were fully briefed on the proposals that were passed back and fourth across the table during those discussions. A number of Presidents worked late into the evening drafting a communication that, once approved by ALL the Local Presidents, would have been disseminated to the rank and file members in our continuing effort to keep you informed. Unfortunately, there were unofficial postings on the internet that preceded the communiqué that was to come out from the Presidents Council. That internet posting was not only unofficial, but it was also factually inaccurate.

It is unfortunate that the Local Presidents were not afforded the opportunity to inform their memberships collectively before inaccurate information was posted.

American Airlines passed three proposals across the table to the Transport Workers Union Bargaining Committee. The Bargaining Committee felt ALL the proposals were inadequate, or concessionary in nature, and would not bring these proposals to the membership for consideration. The proposals included the following:

1. Holiday enhancement

2. Vacation enhancement (limited application)

3. Sick enhancement (limited Application)

4. Compensation (lump sum)

5. Variable compensation (conceptual)

6. Working together bonus

7. Signing bonus

8. Removal of the 6% ASM cap

9. Retiree Medical

10. Crew Chief selection

11. Various work rule changes

We are aware of the anxiety that comes with contract negotiations, and we will do everything we can to keep the union membership informed.

Fraternally,

Dennis Burchette
AA System Coordinator

The latest information still falls way short of "detailed" information.

It still appears Dennis Burchette and the TWU are attempting to spin the facts. Burchette pretends it is someone else's fault information leaked. No Dennis, the TWU has had plenty of time to come out with official information, so it is the TWU Leadership's fault the information is trickling out to the membership. PLease stop placing blame for your own inadequate leadership communications.

Provide us the details and spare us the TWU spin machine smoke and mirrors.

We are adults, we can handle the truth and decide for ourselves the company intent and TWU leadership ignorance.

What I wonder is why the option was never presented to obtain some form of non-traditional compenstation and agree to exchange section 6 openers in November. There is no reason why we shouldn't be able to obtain some extra compensation while the complete contract is being negotiated.

As it stands now, we will go into negotations, it will take 18 months or longer and we will get no retro pay.

Why not set-up a variable compensation to be in place while section 6 negotations are taking place?

This way we have a chance at some extra compensation and still have the RLA self help clock running in case we reach impasse on other issues.

Otherwise, pack in the working together farce and get tough.
