He was famous. HIs dad was weatlthy. IT's been shown time and again that if he had taken the money his dad gave him and put it in an index fund, he could have bought a membership to someone elses (very elite) golf club, golfed to his hearts content, and still be far wealthier than he ever was. His "value" depends on the day of the week and how he feels about the real estate market. But Trump loves leverage...a eensy bit of his money and a whole lot of debt. Outside of licensing his name, he has been an utter failure as a businessman.
