NWA f/A story

The Professional Flight Attendants Association says the airline wants to use foreign-based flight attendants for international flights and use flight attendants at a new subsidiary for regional flights. The union, which represents 9,600 workers, said as many as half of its members could lose their jobs as a result.

NWA f/A story

It only took the pilots, flight attendants, and the scab IAM four months to finally figure out that NWA management is not negotiating in good faith?

NWA says it might not be in the best interest of our employees, customers, or cities we serve. But hey, they let go of AMFA mechanics due to the MGMT's FAILURE to NEGOGIATE in GOOD FAITH huh!!!!! I guess now that AMFA didnt have the back up it needed, now those other knuckle headed unions are finding out what a stuck up greedy sob them mgmt personell are at NWA?

robbed.

You right.

EVERYTHING/EVERYONE has a breaking point.

NWA is very quickly going to find out that they've UNDERESTIMATED their Flt. Crews, AND the're NOT going to like the results !!!!!!!!

NH/BB's

You know,

Every day, I'm thinking MORE and MORE that NW's plan IS to run this company straight into a CH-7 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other groups may not have honored AMFA's picket line. But if all three remaining unions walk out at the same time, it is lights out for NWA.

More like any one of those groups. That is of course, unless NWA has a bunch of pilots/FAs/Rampers holed up in a hotel somewhere with their training already completed.

True, I feel any one of the three could shut it down.

I was going to say at least one of the three groups would be all it takes to walk out. but hey they got those "wonderful scabs" making chicken sh!t dough. now do they have scab pilots, f/as' and ramp-inside agents ready? I think not!

PineyBob,

I think all of the airline industry needs to get behind the employees on this one. If NWA gets away with importing foreign labor, we're all done for.

This is about as slimy as it gets.

Do not be shocked if NWA MGT has scab F/A's and Rampers ready to go at a moments notice. Please, do not take offense with this statement. F/A's and Rampers 'strike talk' is an absolute joke and the company welcomes a strike. They will ALL be placed on a bus and escorted out the door by security ASAP. NWA masterminded the AMFA replacement plan with ease, these other two work groups will be a walk in the park. The PILOTS are the only employees that will ultimately SHUT DOWN the airline. Pilots are the ONLY work group that MGT will give into when that day arrives...IMHO, I believe that NWA-ALPA will walk if NEWCO occurs under it's current proposal.

I have to disagree for a couple of reasons. First, as I said, unless these people are trained and ready to go, ANY group going out now will shut the carrier down. Second, even if they do have replacements ready, the stigma of an airline with more than one(AMFA+ whoever)union on strike should set off all sorts of RED flags with the traveling public as a whole.

They (NWA) might try it, but if one more group goes out, I don't give it a week.

JMHO

it a week.

Yeah, it should. But then, after 5000 years of fighting among those Semitic first cousins (you did know that the Arabs and the Hebrews are first cousins didn't you?), there should be peace in the Middle East.

The public today cares about one thing, and one thing only...Can you beat the $79 fare I got on Trans-Dogpatch?
If so, I'll fly your airline.

Even if they had replacements ready at a moments notice for non-pilots, do you think the operation would go well? Who in their right mind would work in MSP or DTW outside in Jan/Feb for next to nothing? Anyone who is willing REALLY needs a drug test. If they intend to have a pool of ready scabs, one way to tell is if there is a substantial increase in the number of people applying for airport IDs at the airport authority office.

Also you forgot that the reservation, ticket, and gate agents are also IAM. They would have to hire and train those scabs too.

How could NWA even possibly be ready with scabs when SAFETY is going to be the major concern? since USAIRWAYS outsourced a large number of cities, more mainline jets have been damaged than when the actual hard working agents were there. but in NWA's case, i doubt the FAA will allow scab pilots to fly unless NWA is going to go the distance

I feel the same way.....and what a shame. NWA had a great history and flew the US Flag across the Pacific for ages and with pride. I can't believe the Management has resorted to warfare tactics to batter their employees.
