So now it becomes personal!

Trump didn't shut anything down. If he had, and this is an effort to fix something he admittedly broke, it would be the first time he admitted to breaking anything.

Today, that's likely AA. That's a LOT of potential voters in TX, AZ, FL and IL. Votes/states Trump needs. My guess is we'll hear a lot of vague promises for the next few weeks.
From both sides!...... I agree!

NIce rant, but socialism is socialism, regardless of the circumstances. General Motors provided a product and created jobs. Did you support Obama's intervention....be honest now.
No. I did not. I already made myself abundantly clear I support low interest loans but not grants.

You are making yourself look like a fool with your preposterous "socialism is socialism" statements.

Hmmm.

Social Security........Bailing out GM.........Bailing out the Airlines.

Plus I Pocketed $ " 17 " GRAND in unemployment bennies' up to 7/31, AND NOW the Good Ol' US Capitalistic Government will start GIVING ME another $300 a week next week, retro to 8/1, PLUS my $300 a week in state bennies', which will roll-in' @ another " 3 " GRAND, which will bring me up to " 2 0 " Grand, AND THEN, WE/ I continue on, with NO END in Site ! 'WHAT a F'n Country" ! ;):D

Sounds like something out of 'Socialist' Germany etc.

You ARE Correct A G A I N ! KCF !

K.C.do you collect
Because of the pandemic, Trump shut down the whole of this countries economy.

Actually, it was state governors who shut down the economy. Trump closed the borders, which impacted about 20% of the airlines' traffic.

Oh please. I'd say airline employees swing 60% liberal, 40% conservative, so at best there are 40,000 votes that would be at risk, which is a rounding error spread out across four states.

And IL going red? As much as I'd love to see that happen, I'm not holding my breath. HRC won the state by 600,000 votes in 2016, so unless 50% of the black/Latino voters in the City of Chicago suddenly shift their vote to Trump over all the violence and Lightfoot's poor leadership, it ain't happening.

I understand what you are saying E, but when a patents heart stops, what is one of the first things doctors do? They shook it to get it started again.

Yeah, but you don't do CPR for five months....

And I understand where you are coming from, but the bigger question would be can the country afford to see one, or more, of the majors go under right now?

It would be a disruption to the employees of that airline, but I suspect the country and even the cities where AA has hubs would be just fine. Traffic is down at least 50%, so we could probably lose two major airlines and still have capacity left if the remaining two did some increased service into the former airline hubs not to mention AS/B6/F9/NK filling in the gaps.

Thanks for proving that you've always been a leech on society, Bears.

Why am I a leech on society Oh 'so supposed' brilliant One' ?? I worked well at my airport job, made the manager happy, got laid off, followed state and federal rules, and look forward to going back to work ! NOBODY 'GAVE ME' A F thing I and others, were not entitled to !!

You've, for years on here, had a lot of people FOOLED, with your BULL manure , but I've had you figured out for a looooong, looong time Eric. You are a F Typical Management " SANTIMONIOUS D - Bag ", and clearly 'Fits the bill' of a Capitalistic, Conservative HYPOCRTIT, whose present government finds their balls clamped in a VICE, and the squeals can be heard from NH to BOSTON !!!!!

NOW, your turn oh great SAGE !!

His vague nods to "maybe" passing a new round of funding are an attempt to frame him as a savior...and pressure Congress to act, reinforcing that narrative. It's messaging. No more, no less.

If you're such a great employee, I'm sure you could have managed to find something.

Instead you're crowing about how proud you are of pulling in $20K in unemployment.

Sorry, but that's a leech.

Nah, I think he has a soft spot for the airline industry. A good liberal friend of mine worked for him at the Shuttle, and believes his interest here isn't politics.

Did you get a stimulus check? Did you need it? If not, and you didn't send the check back, doesn't that make you a leech as well? FWIW, I did not get a stimulus check.

Technical you are correct. And I believe the State of Alaska never did shut down, but do you really believe they would have if it wasn't by the direction of the Feds? You are technically correct, in fact I believe Alaska never did shut down, but they did so at the request, and guidelines, set out by the Feds, and CDC.

Exactly!....... To bring back the economy you have to jump start it!

And those Airlines that survive would pickup what assets are still there. But what would the Industry look like after, as you suggest, two majors are no longer there? Two large majors left? Do you feel that could be a problem?
