March 16, 2019 -- After a week of mediation, including many long nights and early mornings, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) and Southwest Airlines have reached an Agreement in Principle (AIP) on Saturday, March 16, 2019, toward a new collective bargaining agreement. We are very pleased with the efforts of both Teams to find common ground on a new contract that is good for our Aircraft Maintenance Technicians and for Southwest Airlines.

Great to hear this. Hope its a good one for you guys and also raises up our craft across the industry.
The cover looks good, but waiting to hear what's in all the chapters. Looks like co. is asking for IO of up to 8 lines (that's a lot of lines). Question is, where? and who? Also wondering if any other scope language changes were asked for and/or agreed to in the AIP.
It looks to be correct on the money side so far. with 20% at DOS (Apr. 1st 2019) then 3% per years for 19-22 Contract date is Aug. 2023. For a total of 32% overall life of contract. No raise on final year until nego next time around, but that's probably ok.
Glad we kept our original contract date in Aug. Funny how our DOS is April first again.
There are some other improvements that were already agreed to in previous AIP that were left alone. I just hope the IO has sme protections involved with it, so holding off on any guesses until we get the T/A and read the language involved with IO.

I believe all our original C check lines stay cause of arbitration we won. When you go to the meetings and the T/A comes out, we can ask the questions. So as long the protections are there for everyone.I can honestly say I don't think AMFA would waste our time, to T/A something they didn't think would pass. Everyone needs to their local AMFA meetings this month.

Work rule change?


“Our Mechanics certainly deserve a new contract, and we believe this industry-leading Agreement in Principle addresses our Employees' interests. The parties were able to agree to a work rule change that allowed the Company to add compensation to the previous Tentative Agreement. I want to thank both negotiating teams for finding a solution that takes care of our People and protects the long-term success of our Company. I would also like to thank the National Mediation Board (NMB) for their expertise in helping us reach this agreement.”
 
Well, I guess it's Sunday and the news media is slow today, especially being SPD. Them there Irish are so lazy, lol.
Just kidding folks, that was a jab at a personal friend of mine.
Below is the first article I have seen all day, but did notice it also made the 10 pm news as well. Mon. will more than likely bring on more articles flying out there.
BTW; It was not just a week of mediation folks. It was almost 7 years of nego's to finally get the second AIP and hopefully a T/A come next week.
Just hoping this is done and over with this time around. We will see come next week after reading all the language.

Have to read the language, so no roadshows. Like I said I hope if it is descent it passes, I am tired of getting my hopes up, just to go another year. I will not argue or tell anyone how to vote.
 
Have to love how this writer is calling your wage increases costly. Guess he’s too dumb to figure out that it comes out to less than 3.2% per year divided by the length of time it took.

3-% a year is industry standard,unless you are UPS. Weazz let's be perfectly honest here. If Landon Nickelodeon wouldn't had been so cheap and paid the extra 3% in raises, plus another say $20 million in retro, he would've had a contract that would have passed. So I would now say , if everything looks good money and not bad language wize, Gary Kelly will throw Landon out with the trash, when it passes.

I can to the conclusion we are doing a job, about two years ago. But I agree with you on the two people need to go At least the company really tried this time.
