20 More 757's...

Since when does the 757 come with a GE engine?

THE 757 is a wonderfull airplane wether its a
older eastern plane or not, it is a machine and can always be fixed.I know all the 757s inside and out and they are a workhorse second to none, especially with the rb211 engine even with the GE it is still a great machine.

Don't hold your breath on the 757-300's. Boeing made a very limited number of them and Northwest and Continental have most of them.

Add to that the fact that its a pig just like the A321.

You don't even want to see the 757-300. Its a lloooonnnngggg plane. CO has some configured to 12/210. Its called the slave ship. If you hate the 757 you would really hate this one. But its good on capacity and for jumpseating (10 jumseats in total with only 5 working)

If I'm not mistaken UA and DL have 757 with GE engines

Gosh, I hope he's been reading the maintenance manual all this time.
WOW WHATS A MANUAL.....LOL

I WAS REFERING TO THE USAIR 757 NOT WORKED ANYWHERE ELSE SO IT DOESNT PERTAIN.....AND I ASSURE YOU THAT I KNOW MORE ABOUT THE RB211 THAN YOU EVER WILL. AND THE ENTIRE 757.AND THE AIRBUS AS I AM A RUNUP TAXI EXAMINER ON THE BUS AND INSPECTOR ON 737/757/767/319/320/321....SO IF YOU WANT TO MATCH WITS ON THE MAINTENCE SIDE...BRING IT ON.aS FAR AS ME MAKING A WRITTEN MISTAKE SAYING GE INSTEAD OF PRATT SO WHAT....ONCE AGAIN YOU ALL ONLY NO HOW TO BASH.

I FIX MORE AIRCRAFT IN A WEEK THAN YOU DO IN A MONTH.
NO ONE KNOWS IT ALL AND I CERTAINLY DONT....

NOW SHEET METAL IS NOT MY EXPERTISE AND I WISH I KNEW A LOT MORE ABOUT IT....

I KNOW GUYS THAT KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT SHEET METAL WORK AND THERE IS A LOT TO KNOW.

LIKE I SAID NO ONE KNOWS IT ALL...AND I KNOW LOTS OF GUYS WHO KNOW A LOT MORE THAN I DO.

AND THATS WHAT MAKES USAIR SUCH A GREAT AIRLINE .....''TOGETHER'' WE DO KNOW IT ALL.

I REALLY ENJOY MY WORK AND LOOK FOWARD TO GOING TO WORK EVERYDAY....ESPECIALLY WITH
ALL THE GREAT EMPLOYEES WE HAVE IN MAINTENCE AND EVERYWHERE....ITS A PLEASURE.

THE FUTURE SO BRIGHT WE HAVE TO WEAR SHADES....

Mech, you'll find out about this board. You have one little typo or say something wrong simply by mistake....your going to be blasted by all the bad attitude, know it alls who comment here...and there is plenty. When you finally get fed up with it, use the ignore feature, you'll only get to see about two or three posters. With the public also reading this board, they have to think we are the most negative, meanest towards each other on this board. But what else would you expect here! Welcome!

Just a bit of fun...no bashing....no need to get defensive, as for matching wits we all have our own expetise. RB211s? I know a little bit. I first started working on them on L1011s. Yep did some runup and taxiing on those, as well as engine changes, accessory gearbox changes etc etc.

757's by motor

AA- Rolls (TWA birds have PW's)
CAL- Rolls
DL- PW's
NW- PW's
NorthAmerican- Rolls
TransMeridian (defunct)- mix of Rolls and Pratt's. They had ex T dub and National Airlines airplanes.
UAL- PW's

The 3 757's are currently in PIT at the hangar 5.

Does anyone else know where 20 RR powered 757's might be? the desert?

There are three former US' 757s at MHV as well as National Airlines.

But personally I think this is just another rumor about obtaining 20 more 757s.

IMHO...gettng back the 3 757's we returned in Chapter 11 Part one would be a great thing. I'd like to see the National birds in our colors too.

I know for fact that Nationals old planes have a lot of US parts on them...so it woould be a Homecoming of sorts to get them.

BTW...they are really nice examples of the 757 too.

The 3 ex US 757's where not at MHV long, former ships 615 and 616 have been with First Choice Airways (large UK Charter Airline) since June of 2004. 618 stayed at MHV a little longer, now flying for Ghana Airways but operated for them by Ryan, they have had 618 since Oct of 2004.

Cheers

LGA777

Thanks for the corrected info.

Ironic that 615 and 616 were leased from BOA and Boeing.
