 I can't imagine any of the thousands of United AIrline members being laid off will ever be pro union again with how Delaney's group treated them. But IAM141 isn't the only one that has failed union members and tied in with management.

Tim knows full well and I've covered it before what the scenario was over at UAL.  The former Continental employees and stations had NO protection language against being outsourced prior to the TA that they ratified.

The position for UAL management was simple. Take it or leave it but those stations are closing no matter what! So the proposal was accepted to be brought back to the membership and recommended for passage that gave those people at least something, other than nothing at all. If you don't already have a union and a contract that has SCOPE language this is what you get. (Remember contracts under the RLA don't expire, they only become amendable)

But Tim would like you to believe that you are in the same position that UAL was. Ohhhhh so far from the truth. You have a union and you have a contract. And when we go into joint talks we BOTH have unions and we BOTH have contracts. And they both have station staffing protections so the UAL scenario is not and will not be a factor period.

But hey if Tim tells you the truth it takes away the big gun he's trying to shoot you with. So he just keeps throwing it out there over and over knowing for some of you it might just stick. Good way to connive a few votes I guess.

That's right, they didn't. That's also why many decided to vote for representation-all the more so given the merger that was then looming on the horizon.

How's that working out for 'em?

And that is the exact problem.  Union leadership today mirrors management.  They are mostly beaten dogs and then blame Republicans.  There is a reason why most americans, including Michigan, are now bailing on unions. We have to make a change for them to survive.  I can't imagine any of the thousands of United AIrline members being laid off will ever be pro union again with how Delaney's group treated them. Absolutely. But the first step has to be to rebuild the roots. With private sector unionism down to only 6%, management just doesn't fear labor as much as they did. I have been seeing some very positive signs out there though and we should be paying close attention to that.

We also can't think we can hide under the skirt of the RLA as something Big Business will never go after. We have to become more active in what our unions are supporting be it Politically or Representationaly.

Donate to your political action funds and sign the petitions they ask you to sign. Get active.

United had 29 ramps protected, gave it all up, now only have 7.  The union screwed those members, bottom line. You can't see it because you are part of the problem and blame everything on Republicans.  You didn't have a problem when a few thousand TWU members got tossed under the bus by MIA so MIA could get their pay increase.  You cant' admit it.
Cripes, the union screwed those members so bad at United that Delaney has taken more of a backseat as Sito is more involved with US AIRWAYS negotiations since he realizes Delaney screwed up at United.

I can think of plenty of morons who are going to vote no. The South is loaded with ignorant fools. But I saw during the IBT raid over your way how many voted NO that I think I can pretty well bead this one too.
