I was talking to some MX yesterday in CLT and all of the ones I talked to said that they were told that the MX contract is done but Sito refused to sign until fleet was on board. Apparently, ole AH wanted to get the MX to sign, then who knows. If any of this is true then its fairly simple to see how a union that represents two groups can benefit all.robbedagain said:well here it is the 13th wonder how the 3 days of meetings went btwn the IAM, NMB and the Donkeys
The following is my opinion and it could be wrong but, maybe the INTL is listening or doing a better job now since they not only had its first officer vote, but the opposition got thousands of votes. Usually opposition continues to build as well. I know many of you hate elections and despise those of us who continue to push this union, but elections really do bring in better accountability. I hope I'm right about Sito and the INTL because I would be thoroughly impressed if what I heard was true. I mean, if the MX have a deal, but they are waiting on Fleet, then that is impressive, yes?
Management has always divided these two groups. 700 may disagree but from my perspective, both groups haven't ever been as solid as it appears they are today. And in CLT, they have solidarity days between both sets of members. Even the vote yesterday, it was awesome to see the incredible solidarity as exhibited in turnout. Isn't that what we try to push for? That's why elections are important. Not only for accountability but it also reminds members to act. I'll give Charlie Brown and Fairbanks points for the turnout in CLT. Well done. And don't think that management doesn't know that half of CLT turned out at the union hall. Having such solidarity strengthens leverage in negotiations as well.
And to top it all off, I got to talk to Harry Callahan for a bit and CLTRat. And I guess i'll give DF points as well. In the background, someone was busting ass making plates and keeping all of our peeps fed. I couldn't believe it, was like a machine. MF you definitely owe DF. At any rate, it was a beautiful thing yesterday as I'm convinced that management is well aware of how active our members are.
