Seriously?? How much more can scope be enhanced than it is now? As far as wages, I agree. We are the biggest carrier in the world. We should get leading wages. But wages aren't everything, it's the total value of the contract that counts.

How about 1 mainline flight per month? Ah nevermind. You would only need to staff 3 people in that station and they'd have north of 40 years seniority I bet.

Rat
We were also disappointed on the scale. No one should think the Negotiating team is stating that we got everything we wanted. We DID NOT! The scale was one of them. It was a very frustrating process for all of us. You get to the point, where things are JUST good enough to put out to the members, but far from what you wanted. If this was a stand alone agreement, and we weren't going right back into talks again, then I don't think this would have been brought out. As far as the freight issue? That's just one of many issues that I now feel like we will have some leverage to argue since we have the scope. But I personally believe we should hold on to as many of our stations that we can. But to be honest for me, I just couldn't walk away from the scope we got. That was why I think we all decided to bring this agreement out.

CB I was not being critical as you and I have discussed this issue a number of times.

I would love to see the return of freight to us but I wonder what the company would want to  make that happen

Stand strong on the scope

Didn't take it critical. Was just trying to explain the process a little.

I have to disagree with you ( surprise surprise ) on the joint talks. One of the issues the company had with us getting the scope we wanted was that we wouldn't want to negotiate a joint agreement. They are the ones that proposed we go back into talks in 30 days, not us. I think us getting the scope we got, gives us huge leverage in jcba. Especially since it doesn't have any drop dead date on it. But one of the final things we agreed to to seal up the scope was to agree to joint talks starting in 30 days.
Talk to them just like they talked to us, drag it out till it hurts.

I agree. However I'm not even sure who will be on the next negotiating team. That is yet to be decided. I'm sure some of is will, but not all of us since we will only be half of the team.

Rat we could all come up with a Christmas wish list of items we'd lie to see addressed in the joint talks. My list would include strengthening the foundations. Issue like sick time, ID time and retirement improvements would now be on the top of my ambitions. We have some pretty decent deficiencies in those areas right now compared to what they were in the past.

Let's take the 401 match on my side for starters. While matching 5.5% is better than the national average I think we can do even better. The APFA now has a tier system in place. It's starts at a 3% contribution and ends with a 9.9% match when you reach 50 and over. I could live with that.

Speaking of work we also just lost Cabin Service at the hands of a gun and that's a bit of a bitter pill to swallow. So IMO all jobs we've had on both sides in the past are going to be discussed. The guys that will be negotiating all have enough time I'm sure to remember things that were in prior contracts and I'm sure they will bring up all of them.

We may even see some left field creativity? The company announced changes to sick time in management and support staff that with a few modifications could work for us as well?

Anyway you guys need to get past step one first.

How should I comment? I just freeloaded 6000 pounds of freight on a flight to YYZ on Thursday. Over 400 lite little boxes, ugh talk about boring to toss. Anyway yea here in MIA we handle tons of freight.

Nah time is money for all of us. Forget the emotion of the past and how you think you were treated. Emotions don't pay bills.

Hopefully the JCBA talks progress very smoothly and constructively.

I could see freight returning to the PMUS hubs as we have it at AA.  We worked our own cargo at a few small stations up until the BK, but the problems were related to having enough people qualified to work cargo.  Some stations only had 2 or 3 qualified to work cargo and if they were on VC or called sick, then they would have to close down for the day.  A lot of people went to cargo training at DFW for 2 weeks and most flunked out after 3 or 4 days.  A lot to absorb in regards to Hazmat, animals, PPS, and dealing with TSA, DHS, and all the other security crap. There have been a lot of fines from the TSA/FAA where cargo folks have left doors open or unlocked or undercover feds ask questions and the cargo agent didn't know the answer...etc.
