3 paths to the NIC: 1. Supporting the above.
                               2. Agreeing to a fence.
                               3. Voting against the MOU.

All paths rejected by the west. They don't want the NIC! Noted by all.

This is my favorite..........

"Yes, the East offered the NIC. They just wanted to protect their retirement attrition, which stalled by the change in Age-60. Looking back, that offer must look like a home run to any West pilot right now,"

Questions:

What were the Wye River proposals offered by the East MEC during post Nic negotiations?
Were the provisions ever made public to the ALPA membership or were they behind closed door only?
Would they provisions be gone now had the proposals been accepted by the West MEC and the Nic be in place at this time?
I've heard it was for seven year fences? Is this right?

"Our union leaders believed that the USAPA vote would be close (razor’s edge, to quote one of them) and that it was worth holding out and rolling the dice, figuring that if ALPA survived, so would the NIC. Too bad ALPA didn’t explain the importance of the 30% of East pilots who refused to participate in the Wilson Polling.

We now have a better picture what the East MEC had on the table: an 8 year fence, furloughs by longevity (LOS), MDA time not counting for longevity, Dave O’Dell having 400 pilots below him, and the Nic surviving as THE LIST. Yes, the East offered the NIC. They just wanted to protect their retirement attrition, which stalled by the change in Age-60. Looking back, that offer must look like a home run to any West pilot right now, but last February the EAST MEC and ALPA couldn’t get to first base with it.

Our former MEC and our union leadership played a very high stakes game of poker by not dealing at Wye River. Freund was right, we were risking everything…..and right now, it looks like we lost. They need to take responsibility for that."

Some people are just born losers.

My personal "favorite" among the "Integrity Matters" T-shirts crowd must always remain "sparta's" famous hero "NiceLandingCaptain", who claimed magically saving "hundreds of troops on the ground" in his nebulous "gray jet", but somehow without ever coming anywhere even close to a combat theater. I'm sure you'll always remember that sad creature as well. He'd previously claimed the west to be "an inexerorable glacier of righteousness", but bailed from the boards after his personal "heroics" BS was blown open and one or two posters properly noted that the public presentation of False Valor can become an actual crime. The fact that not so much as even a single, solitary west pilot did anything other than to then attempt defending his disgusting BS spoke volumes....One must wonder at just what it is they put in the water out there...

P.S. No frets for "you'se" snapthis, since I do believe you honestly have a "varsity letter jacket" and doubtless sport "liberty" ties with aplomb. 😉

With the obvious exception of that last line; I'd think most out west have figured it out by now.

The West pilots applaud the injunction against all of us.

Truly is it said that one simply "can't fix stupid". I'll never understand any part of just what "advantage" the west saw in not only cheer leading for, but actively assisting in bringing about an injunction against the whole pilot group?....Anyone have anything for that?...Anyone?

Does the litigious AoL ever poll or do they just expect the faithful and the reluctant alike to follow their lead with the misinformation campaign, intimidation, and endless lawsuits? It would seem that the rational minded pilot would have pushed for some compromise. Lawsuits go on for years and only help the East who will, in the not too distant future, be retired.

I am certainly happy that the Wye River proposals were never accepted and that ALPA is not longer our bargaining agent. My dissatisfaction with ALPA came long before the failed wind-fall Nic award. Changes in merger policy, ALPA compensation, barrages of misinformation and ALPA propaganda, giving away our contract pay and working conditions and, most important, retirement, all were major factors in the dumping of ALPA.

After the thrill is gone
What can you do when your dreams come true
And it's not quite like you planned?
What have you done to be losing the one
....
You're afraid you might fall out of fashion
....
You don't care about winning but you don't want to lose...

Sniffle...sigh...Now I need a nurturing hug! Perhaps "you'se" should have been better raised with a bit less touchy-feely and purely wimp musical/philosophical notions....Who knows, perhaps "you'se" could have accomplished a bit more than a "varisty letter jacket",....Just sayin'... 😉 Try this sort instead.

Ah yes the Wilson poll during ALPA's deathwatch. Who can forget answering the Wilson poll with answers intended to broadcast love, admiration, commitment, and undying loyalty to that beloved organization. Some refused to participate, but many who did saw the poll as the perfect Trojan horse! I am told it was an immense pleasure to answer every question, knowing that John Prater would eat every morsel. So I've heard.

I took the poll and it was quite cathartic telling ALPA how much I despised them as I knew that they were history with US Airways. It was quite entertaining watching the ALPA career long politicians and usual suspects, who finally found their epaulets in their dresser bottom drawer, or borrowed them, try to convince an abused and ignored pilot group that ALPA was right for them in the slick videos. I am glad that they didn't succeed in the last ditch effect to throw our 17 year F/O's careers in the ALPA dumpster, along with our hard earned retirements, with the Wye River give away. I didn't know the details, but I knew that, with ALPA, it wasn't good.

Some people enjoy shooting rats out right, and others enjoy serving them tasty morsels laced with a deserving potion. Either way, rats don't belong in the grain silos.

I think it worth repeating that West pilots were never and will never agree that the Nicolau Award is now long gone and they will continue to fight like the TWA pilots, who have just filed an new lawsuit in Federal District Court.  It will NEVER be over for them, they will continue to swim in their own quagmire (giggity) and therefore will never part with the past.  NEVER.  That is why we can continue to enjoy accelerated attrition and the new hires can take their jobs.

Hey, how come they don't tell the new hires that they are scabs, anyway?  Can you answer that, Snap???
