Ok, let's ASSume that the ASSociation rams the IAMPF down our throats ina " legitimate " collective bargaining agrement.
 
 this is for the smart guys out there...
 
is there a way to not participate in the IAMPF even if it is implemented?
 
( my preferred choice is to continue my 401k or even have my AA pension at a equatable value rolled over into my 401k )

they can do that brother....
 
I would say contractually the company has to abide by the agreement. So the 401K match would stop. Now can we individually notify the company that we do not want to participate in the IAMNPF? The company would probably accept the request but you still get no match. I'm sure the IAMPF would force the company to contribute because they want your money. For the ones that do not want any part of the IAMPF it will be a losing situation. You lose the match and the IAMPF gets your money which you may not see the day to collect. If we were given the choice then so be it. The problem is the IAMPF knows a majority do not want to participate and risk insolvency. Again we seem to have no say in many issues lately. I said it earlier. We are employees at will even though we have a union.

If the ASSociation sells us out by negotiating away the 401k match and get $2 an hour towards the IAMNPF, I wonder how many pro ASSociation types will be happy?
 
Since we are on the topic of the association and the IAMNPF, I found some troubling information of working after retirement from AA. I copied and pasted the below info from the IAMNPF website. A link to the pages are below.

If you return to work after you have retired and while you are receiving a pension from the National Pension Plan, your pension benefit payments may be suspended, depending upon your age and the type of work you are doing. View our Working Pensioner explainer video here.
If you are thinking about accepting any employment after you retire, you should take these steps:
•    Review the “Rules for Employment After Retirement.” (PDF)  This summarizes the conditions you need to meet in order to return to employment and continue receiving your pension benefit payments.
•    Contact the Fund Office at 800-424-9608 to discuss the impact your employment may have on your pension benefit.
•    Review the “Ruling on Employment” (PDF)  guidelines and form and complete and return the form to the Fund Office.

The
IAM National Pension Fund (“the Plan”)
is intended to provide retirement benefits. Certain
types of employment may result in the suspension of your pension benefits. The rules are different depending on whether you are age 65 or older, or under age 65:
If you are age 65 or older
(Normal Retirement Age) and you work 40 hours or more per month
,
your pension may be suspended if:
1.
You work 40 hours or more per month for a Contributing Employer under the
Plan while also in the same trade or craft you worked in while in covered
employment under the Plan

If you are under age 65 and you work any hours
 
your pension may be suspended if:
1.You work in any job classification at a Contributing Employer,
OR

2.You work for an employer in a geographic area covered by the Plan
at  the time of your retirement and in any industry and trade or craft in which you were working while covered under the Plan.

Hilarious and tragic at the same time. The only thing I forgot was to misspell Dick's last name "Trumpka" all the way through...I thought that was a good one. "The Donald" might not laugh at it.....
 
You are the union....but "WE" have the ASSociation.
 
After listening to what Sito had to say yesterday about why we are not in negotiations, is the same broken record every one of us has heard before every contract in the last 30 PLUS years. The union pounds it's chest saying we are going to be a 100% prepared before we go into negotiations so our members get the industry leading contract. Well I don't care how prepared the union is the company is going to throw down its proposal and say "here it is boys" this is what you are going to get. That is the way it has been for years. So quit di@king around and go into talks and try to spin this turd of a contract into some kind of benefit to the members. The A$$ is just wasting our time. Can I get a harrumph!!!!!
 
As pointed out we are to old to participate in the IAMPF, so its purpose is to what?
 
Then that makes any fees to participate in the IAMPF our punishment for allowing the ASSociation to again place us in a Socialist Union ran by the Fleet Service hierarchy.

And not one bit of this applies if we stick with the 401K match.
 
They are a 100% gonna try and ram the IAM pension fund down our throats. I can't disclose my source or I won't have one. But I was told that the iampf is the way they are going

Well, if they try that. The JCBA is DOA. Regardless of any improvements elsewhere in the contract.
 
It's just the way the ASS. is going to run things.
 
They will do things to benefit the big boys in both unions.
 
The union members? You are both screwed. (but equally screwed)

It is DOA if, we as mechanics that are not in it now vote it down and have the ability to out vote the IAM mechanics and possibly Fleet Service, if we get to vote. What are you going to do if the is a $50 an straight time if you join the IAMPF? regardless if there is a layoff anywhere.
