Someone actually paid seventy-one dollars for one of these vouchers? $71 for a pack of five, maybe, but one highly restricted round trip between Love Field and one of four airports?

"There's a sucker born every minute" -- so true!!!

This one sold for $91!

Could this actually backfire on AA's intent as far as losing local support from Metroplex residents that may have had no interest in the WA? Most non-aviation enthusiasts don't fully understand the WA (of course AA, WN, local media, & others have educated many). They think, I got a free ticket on AA from Dallas. I'm going to LA or NYC, etc..., only to find out when they call AA res. that it's only valid to STL/MCI/AUS/SAT and the WA doesn't allow for travel outside of the current exemptions. Let's face it, how many voucher holders will actually read the fine print.

It would backfire just as much as any other promotion, which is not much. Some people think they are getting something for nothing and boycott the business that operated the promotion. The continued existence of promotions indicates that these types of people are few enough to offset the increased business from people who can read (or don't mind being read the limitations when they call).

Besides, most promotions require you do something to get a voucher, coupon, etc. For those who received a free ticket by going to a basketball game they were going to attend anyway, they don't lose anything by throwing it away. For those morons who paid $71 or $91 for a free ticket worth, at most IMHO $25, too bad. Who needs the business of morons anyway? ;)
