Has anyone flown the reconfig A321's and if so were there any problems. Does anyone know if tempe is satisfied and will reconfig the rest of the fleet?

Our top tier FF's are leaving along with those now gone f/c seats. I guess we'll just have to "get over" that too. This company is crap but hey, we have PIE now.I flew one on 4/16, PIT-CLT. 4 rows of coach, rows 5 to 8 (24 seats) take the place of rows 5 to 7 first class (10 seats). The remaining rows in coach have been renumbered (former 8 is now 9, etc). There is no closet for first class, just hooks for coats behind row 4 (which will be reclined on by those sitting in row 4). Talk about no class..... :down:

The 757 enhancements include the installation of two additional First Class seats, which increases the number of First Class seats from 22 to 24 on each aircraft.
While other airlines do things to improve their product and aircraft. The Sandcastle goes the other way , and chases away our premium passengers in favor of MA & Pa Kettle and their glad trash bag carryons. Is this the future of our company? When will they see that we are spinning out of control on a downward spiral to the gutter?

And AA service is dependable, nothing great but not in the dump either. The only bad thing about AA is that their DFW hub is too big, but its bearable since the Traam works.

Additional Projects Under Way to Enhance American's Boeing 777, 767-300 and 767-200 Aircraft Fleet
FORT WORTH, Texas, April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines today announced plans to make upgrades over the next two years on its entire fleet of 124 Boeing 757 aircraft to include the installation of new seats, new cabin interiors, and updated in-flight entertainment systems throughout the aircraft.
"American is committed to investing in products and services that make traveling more comfortable and convenient," said Lauri Curtis, American's Vice President -- Onboard Service. "The Boeing 757 aircraft project is our newest effort to enhance our fleet of aircraft, improve the overall customer experience, retain our loyal passengers, and win new travelers."
The 757 enhancements include the installation of two additional First Class seats, which increases the number of First Class seats from 22 to 24 on each aircraft. Other modifications include:
* New Economy cabin seats;
* New sidewalls to give the interior a lighter and brighter look;
* New LCD monitors, which replace CRT monitors, to enhance in-flight
entertainment viewing;
* New digital media file servers for better in-flight video and audio
entertainment quality.
As American Airlines conducts more than 90 percent of its maintenance work in-house at its maintenance bases, in the United States, these aircraft refurbishment projects will be completed by American's highly skilled Maintenance and Engineering department comprised of 14,000 employees, including 12,000 members of the Transport Workers Union (TWU).
In addition to the Boeing 757 aircraft enhancements, which are slated to begin in 2008, American already has plans in progress to enhance its fleet of Boeing 777, 767-300s and 767-200 aircraft, all of which were previously announced.
Boeing 777
American's Boeing 777 fleet -- a total of 47 aircraft, which primarily serve routes between the U.S. and locations in the United Kingdom, Japan, China, India and Latin America -- will soon receive the remainder of scheduled upgrades to its First Class and Business Class cabins.
This year, American will begin installing Flagship Suites in the First Class cabins of the remaining 777s (20 in total) that do not currently feature that product. Each Flagship Suite transforms into a fully flat 6-foot, 6-inch bed with drop-down armrests which allows for more sleeping space. Additionally, each suite features a swivel seat for face-to-face meetings or dining together, power ports, leather headrests, two large tray tables, in- flight entertainment with audio and video on demand, and other comforts designed to enhance the travel experience.
The 777 Business Class cabin also will receive star treatment that includes new lie-flat seats with drop-down armrests and in-flight entertainment with audio and video on demand. In addition, the new Business Class seat will track forward 10 inches and features interlocking tray tables that create one of the largest workspaces in the industry.
Boeing 767-300
American is currently upgrading the Business Class cabin on its fleet of 58 Boeing 767-300s, an effort that is scheduled for completion by the end of this year. The new, next-generation Business Class features lie-flat seats with drop-down armrests, a personal in-flight entertainment system with audio and video on demand, and ergonomically-designed overhead bins. With five independent motors, the new seat offers customers previously unimaginable flexibility. In addition, the track-forward feature and interlocking tray tables provide customers with greater options for work and in-flight dining.
American deploys its Boeing 767-300 aircraft for many of its trans- Atlantic services, as well as on select routes within the United States and to Latin America. In all, this fleet serves more than 50 routes to more than 20 destinations. By early summer 2007, American expects to have the next- generation Business Class on all 767-300 aircraft flying routes between New York and Europe.
On March 15, American completed the outfitting of Business Class cabins with the new personal video and audio entertainment devices. By expediting the installation, American offers customers expanded entertainment features sooner than scheduled.
Boeing 767-200
Passengers will begin experiencing enhancements on American's fleet of 15 Boeing 767-200s as early as this summer. This aircraft is primarily flown between New York and Los Angeles and between New York and San Francisco.
In the First Class and Business Class cabins, the upgrades include updated seats, a lighter and brighter cabin interior, and new audio and video on- demand personal entertainment devices. American also is installing one additional First Class seat on each aircraft, which increases the number of First Class seats on the 767-200s to 10. All of the upgrades will be implemented in phases, beginning with the new in-flight entertainment systems, followed by upgraded First Class seats, the installation of the additional First Class seat, and the enhanced cabin interior.
The Economy Class cabin also will receive a lighter and brighter look, including new carpeting and new interior sidewalls. In addition, CRT video monitors will be replaced by LCD monitors for a clearer, brighter picture.

Looks like you are getting it. Welcome to LCC... Low Cost Carrier... Why would you want or need first class if your common denominator is coach. You will still have first class on international flights. You just won't have as much on domestic...This is what DP sold to the creditors, not the people who love to biatch on this forum. You can't and shouldn't have it both ways. The problem is none of us like change. Guess what... It's here... Deal with it...

Why on earth should LCC or any of it's employees care what AA does?

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it - however:
1) LCC management should care - it is generally good to know what the competition is doing
2) LCC frequent flyers should care - to compare LCC's product to the competition
3) LCC employees don't have to care - but I thought it might be of general interest to them

I hate to knock this AA 757 news but I think the reason their 757 have had 22 F seats and not the (except US) norm of F24 was because of the location of their closet. So I wonder if this 2 F seat gain is due to a closet removal ? Though not mentioned in the article AA has decided to put blended winglits on ALL their 757's, around 10-15 have them currently. They are also working with Boeing to be the launch customer for blended winglits for both the 767-300 and 767-200.
Also UA is soon surpirsingly converting their 757's from F24 to F14.

Actually I spoke with someone at UA inflight and that has not been confirmed as yet. Certainly a mistake if it is done, but not confirmed at this time.
LGA--did they stop the reconfigs of 321's or are they going full steam ahead?

43% your arse (You said it not me)? It could even be more. Business travelers are what's helping keep this company afloat right now, subsidizing Ma and Pa Kettle. The top 20-22% of all frequent fliers contribute MORE than 40% of the overall revenue--proven and admitted by most major airlines (not US). In addition to flying at what are considerably higher fares than Ma and Pa Kettle, we do so about 100 times more often, NOT to mention credit card spend, and other affiliated purchases.
We sympathize with you FA88, but you really need to look into another line of work which requires no public contact....the customer is NOT the enemy here. Just ask some of your more enlightened colleagues. WE didn't cut your pay, your company did.
When this becomes a trailer park with wings, will you be happy then?
