I would assume that some flight attendants will be reserve. If I understand this correctly they may have as little as two hours notice before such a trip. If they have normal lives they had to get the kids ready for school at 6:30 am and then did normal household things, maybe a trip to the grocery store. Lets say that the flight is getting a new crew due to whatever. It is now going to leave at 1:00 am. That reserve flight attendant put the kids to bed and is now preparing everything for tomorrow. They now start to go to bed at a decent hour, say 10:00 pm. Not so fast there Mr. or Miss flight attendant, we need you at the airport for a possible 1:00 am departure. Now they have been up since 6:30 am and have to fly twelve hours with zero sleep. Your company seems to think this is all part of being that reserve and you should have thought of that earlier. The "rest" seats should be just that. S

That has always been a problem. It was bad enough when something like that could happen where you might have been on call for most of the day and then find yourself headed for the east coast or Alaska after having been up all day, but PHL to TLV is something else entirely.

I don't know the current FA contract or the various reserve call-out criteria, but I strongly suspect that something needs to be done about reserve so that something like what you describe can't happen. It is unsafe.

it happens almost daily on the east...and, it is not alaska or the east coast, it is some random european destination. the worst is finishing a redeye and getting called out that night (i cannot sleep in the daytime). try to play the "fatigue" card with scheduling, and you get to answer to all sorts of minions on the managerial hierarchy.

Point of comparison - AA flies 767-300 aircraft on long routes like JFK-EZE (11-12 hrs), DFW-MAD (9-10 hrs) and DFW-CDG (9-10 hrs), to name a few.

Row 17 is sectioned off by a lav wall ahead of it and a bulkhead behind it. The seats have a little more recline and footrests. On long haul flights, that's where the FAs rest (with a curtain to block them off). On shorter/domestic trips, they are prime coach seats that elites snap up when they can't get the upgrade.

So, back to clue's question (twice)...what is the gist of the grievance and what is in the existing contract about mandatory rest seating/facilities for FAs.

so....where is it now ?

we have any pics of it yet ?

Still in Mobile, Bama. Should be in PHL some time tomorrow I would think. Runs SJU on Thursday.

Couple of pics on Airliners.net

CLT was the where the planes use to go to for heavy mtc and pre-op mods, not PHL.

I think you missed the point.

I can attest that, until recently, product out of our outsourcing "friends" has been less than satisfactory.

Nice pics, that over by the hangar in phl?

Here ya go... Photos of this magnificent beast.......
You seem to frequently come through with good reasons to stick with US Airways. Thanks for the effort in getting these pictures. Can't wait until the new Envoy pods are available. Hope these 2 332s (where is 280AY?) stay in that pristine condition for TLV and don't get all marked up by the SJU crowd.

Where are the pilot crew rest bunks located?

Aircraft right, behind the flight deck. There is a galley there on the A330-300s.

A/C 280 is in Toulouse. Goes to Mobile some time the end of next week.

Nice shots PHL Approach, thanks for posting so quickly. Was not expecting the fake wood in Envoy. And one question, in the 10th photo is the L2 door between last row of envoy and that galley or is it a little further back?

Thanks Again
