We aren't the only ones buying these seats 700. I've seen this several times with various componants. The Flight Management Computers come to mind as an immediate example.

Or...it could be BS and poor planning.

  My bet, poor planning. Worked for US for 25 years and NOTHING, nothing, ever happen as planned. No matter who is in charge thre seems to be a black cloud over the airline. Mgmt just can't ever get it right. The customer always suffers along with the employees who are constantly making excuses for how inept the mgmt is.

Well, you could both be right. Plenty of times we see stupid things happen that could have been avoided. There is only so much the employees can do to make things work. Unfortunantly, the powers that be take that ability away from the people in the trenches or so oppress them that they don't care. Good group of employees for the most part at U. All we ever wanted was someone to lead us and treat us right...give us a little pride. PI did that.

All this being said, the A330 200 is one nice machine, inside and out. New Envoy will make it better. Wish we had more leg room in coach. But that could be said of every airplane we operate. Of course, that is a management decision.

Is the seat pitch in Economy as criminally unforgiving as that on the A330-300s? I have been curious about this, especially since the -200s will be eventually used on longer flight sectors than the -300s.

Tempe figures segment length doesn't matter. Feeling and circulation to lower limbs is lost in the first 90 minutes, so what difference does it make if you're cramped in for 2 hours or 14 hours?

From what I have heard the pitch is the same on the 200 as the 300, however the new slimline seats on the 200, that are to also replace the current ones on the 300 does increase the legroom somewhat. I also understand the IFE power box under the seats for the new IFE system is less abtrusive on the new bird, and these two will eventually make their way to the 300's. I apologize that is not based on personal experiance, as I have not been on the 200 yet.

I saw those boxes...they stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Took me a minute to figure out what they were.

Who is this mystery company responsible for delaying LCC's new Envoy seats in business class? Nobody has actually named them, rather it's simply a vague, "that company". Anybody know the actual name of said company?

Um, let me think here. Could it be, Tempe?

It was posted a few months back as being Sicma Aero, but there have been no official announcements from USAirways.

(do a search for 'sicma aero' in the above link)

I saw the A.net posts back then (it was discussed on FT) and the seat said to be selected by US wasn't listed on Sicma Aero's website at that time. Presumably a new model.

I visited their website (what a mess) but virtually all of the links were inoperable so there was no real information there. This is starting to sound like that whole LUMEXIS IFE that LCC was supposed to get that was both cutting-edge and inexpensive to boot yet they ended up back-pedaling out of.

Apparently global airlines like Singapore use products from sicma, so they're probably a little further along than lumexus...

Someone in the airliners thread purports to know as fact that US chose the cirrus model from sicma. But I don't know why US wouldn't make some sort of announcement to create some level of demand for Envoy on the 332 routes.

The difference being that you would never see an airline like Singapore launch their new aircraft without all the proper fixtures already in place. If you have ever been on Singapore Airlines you know instantly why they have been rated best airline in the world like 16 years in a row. Of course their average fleet stays less than ten years. It might take US that long to get the seats in and working properly.

I saw the "New" Us 767 seats a while back. If it were not for the fact I knew what was there before I would have thought they needed retired. They were all scratched up and the material was frayed. One had some famous duct tape on a corner. Hard to believe they are less than a full year old. You would never see such a thing on a Singapore flight! US actually puts out a press release that they were spending 20 some million to refurb the fleet. Problem is no cleaning is taking place. I am sure they take a Hoover through at night possibly, but that is not enough to keep it looking at it's best. The new "leather" is a nice touch as you do not sit down and have a dust cloud surround you. However, even leather needs cleaned and this is where US fails. Preventative measures would go a long way at keeping it looking like they spent the 20 million wisely.

Now back to the original topic, Sorry!
