Has AA decided to not serve ANC from any station this summer? Unbelievable. I wonder if is lack of aircraft, crews or both.
We are already flying to ANC from DFW

Terrific! I looked it up on JETNET but from STL-ANC and they showed a connection to Alaska Air out of SEA. Thanks
ORD-ANC didn't come back this year because of A/C shortage. I think it was from the ORD-SNN 757.
With 19 ex-LLC 752s headed back to the lessors this year, there are more than a few flights that won't be with us anymore.
But AS operates the route (ORD-ANC), so AA could codeshare on it. Why waste a jet on that route if it is better off somewhere else.//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Very true..FWAAA, but, in regard to ORD/ANC, AA should have put a seasonal 738 on that route. Futhermore, when seasonal DFW/ANC comes off, the hypothetical ORD/ANC trip should run year round..IMHO
NH/BB's
Reno Air flew the route 3 times daily in the summer.Freight and pry mail alone make money on alaska flights the flights were always full even in the winter when we had only one flight daily from SEA i think aa just loves giving flight s to AS LOOK AT SEATLLEBears, why do you think ANC deserves that much service from AA?
The big draw in the summer is one-way traffic either headed to or from cruises (typically departing from or arriving into YVR). Most of that is in package tours, so if UAL or NWA have the contract with Cruiseline X, Y and Z, they're going to get the bulk of the traffic.
Aside from cruise traffic, the route demographics aren't all that exciting. There are only 285,000 residents in and around ANC, and Alaska as a state only has about 750,000 residents (which is still more than ND, VT, or WY, but smaller than DE, MT, and SD). Granted, they're isolated by geography, but the flipside of that is that they're isolated by choice... Alaska isn't just a state, it's a state of mind.
Doesn't it make sense to handle the flight over to AS for codeshare than to tie a plane up for that long. AA is not looking for business from the West Coast to ANC, but from DFW/ORD and the East. There is no route structure that would support west coast to ANC. That was all taken away when they dismantled the SJC hub. And AS will not let them code share from LAX-SEA on AS Metal to support a flight on AA from SEA-ANC. You still can get the Advantage Miles on AS.Reno Air flew the route 3 times daily in the summer.Freight and pry mail alone make money on alaska flights the flights were always full even in the winter when we had only one flight daily from SEA i think aa just loves giving flight s to AS LOOK AT SEATLLE
