BigMac,
Sorry you could not have stood with us but fully understand. I called Louis last month, after our E-Board Meeting here in DFW and told him what I was planning as a courtesy call. I don't know why he did not inform the membership there. He was a VERY quiet voice regarding how your membership should vote on this cancerous t/a so I am not surprised the information wasn't forthcoming.
The event was planned to coincide with the ballot mailout. The Tulsa guys who stood with us made the event what it was planned to be all along... a show of unity! As I explained to ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and the Tulsa World Tulsa overhaul and the Line provide a world class product. For far too long an attempt has been made to drive a wedge between us and it was time to show the International, company and industry that there is no divide and conquer amongst professionals.
Ever since Charles E. Taylor started our craft our profession has stayed lock step with each technological advance aviation has made. We are always elevating the standards by which we measure ourselves and this t/a will lower this bar in so many ways.
The people who stood out on the corner across the street were standing up for our craft not only at AA but for AMTs across the industry. Yes, Southwest, FedEx and UPS have better contracts than us, (as well as other airlines), but if we fail to kill this t/a it is only a matter of time before this cancerous t/a spreads... and there is no cure for this hideous profession killer. Look at CO, they are holding off to see what happens here. For the moment we are the tip of the spear for unionized AMTs. We must not fail. And with the support shown yesterday in Tulsa we will prevail and show, by example, what we can do when united.
Vote No!
