AA watching TWU vote

I gave a "thumbs up" to the fellas on the way into the lot on Wednesday.

BTW Ken - I read above that good ol' Steve Luis was advised of the trip by you but he evidently didn't pass the info on the the new 514 Prez. A letter was put out and he sounded a tad testy about not being informed of the incursion of Local 514's space. You did inform but, evidently, the new International member you did inform of the visit was busy with more important duties for Little Jimmy.

Perhaps a note clarifying the situation would be in order. I've heard from many Sam is a straight shooter (from both the pro and anti TWU groups).

Goose,

Thaanks for the thumbs up.

Last month, during our Executive Board Meeting I talked about the idea of doing what we did this Wednesday. Our President, Bob Zimmerman, suggested I contact Steve Luis a call as a courtesy. I had always planned on doing that because there is nothing secret about what we did. I called and spoke with Steve right after the meeting and told him of my intentions.

On Tuesday July 27, 2010 at 11:47 AM I called Sam but my call went directly to his voice mail. I identified myself and spoke my contact number in the event Sam's phone did not have caller I.D. He did not call me on Tuesday, nor did he ever call me while we were up in Tulsa. I just called him again and his voice mail picked up. I await his return call. As the outgoing president Steve should have told Sam of my call.

There was no incursion of anyone's space because as I explained to the media and those who stood with us we were there to show unity amongst our craft. We were there speaking out for not against our craft. I am sure that 514 Officers knew we were there yet no one came over to introduce themselves and stand with us. They were certainly welcome. After all, we are fighting the same fight.

As of today the Tulsa local has put in print that it can not support this T/A.( Inforner special addition.) I'm not sure why the change, but it is a good change. For all of you that want to know the card drive in Tulsa is going very well

Can this special Informer be linked/posted here?

Sam is right..the timing sucks, but at least he is admitting a No vote.
Did anyone notice Steve-O's Issue #32 informer had been deleted from the website? Bwahaha !!

The people who stood out on the corner across the street were standing up for our craft not only at AA but for AMTs across the industry. Yes, Southwest, FedEx and UPS have better contracts than us, (as well as other airlines), but if we fail to kill this t/a it is only a matter of time before this cancerous t/a spreads...

Would you vote to subsitute the Southwest Contract or Fedex or UPS contracts for the AA contract lock stock and barrel? Work rules and pay etc?

I bet that if you told AA - just give us the Southwest Contract - line for line....nickel for nickel - scope for scope - work rule for work rule. AA would probably call an emergency meeting and approve it tonight.

Wrong.

Other than System Protection what work rules do we have that SWA doesnt have?

We have heard this lie over and over.

Then you should put that on the table....Tell them here's the deal.....Give us the SWA pay and benefits and we will give you the SWA scope and work rules.....should be an interesting conversation

Yeah, and then when the overhaul jobs are all outsourced the seniority from Tulsa will bump the system and the haves will have and have nots....well too hell them because "I've got mine Brother"

Poor morale, byhaps?

CPAs and other bean counters attempting to run a business.

Upper management that considers its employees serfs and peons and views them with contempt.

A so-called "union" owned by the company.

We have many things SWA doesn't have, Bob, and none of them are enviable, that is, unless one is a masochist.

Working in overhaul to, and sick of hearing this argument, I've asked my leadership to provide us with a cost comparison between us and SWA. I want to know what the cost difference is for AA doing their overhaul versus SWA only doing 65% of theirs (obviously it would need to be adjusted for the different fleet types). So if it means that in dollars per an hour that SWA has a $2 an hour advantage over AA, then fine I can live with $2 an hour less, but not $12. Looking at the rest of the contract, outside of the always hanging over our head defined pension plan, they have better rules.

Let me know what they say. This is something that obviously should have been a part of negotiations and we should have been informed of accurate data long ago.

... I've asked my leadership ...
You have leadership? Why do you have it and I don't? Does WalMart have any? Which department?

What's it like to have leadership? I'm jealous!! Are you willing to share?

I haven't seen any of that stuff since November 1971 - my EOS with the Navy.
