What's new

Additional widebody aircraft

I would love to see 747 but I seriously doubt AA will be acquiring any.

I have heard the same. Last Nov, I heard that AA and UA were in talks for the Pacific and their 747-400, but they broke off. This info came from the person that brings in third party work to AA, 777 landing gears ect.

Who know's what's next

The guy I am flying with today said he flew with a captain that went to Japan for vacation. On landing in NRT, he saw 11, parked 777's all silver with just the One World logo and Japan airlines on the tail.

Could these be ours?

Doubtful. Two plausible explainations...

JAL had a handful of 777-300's painted in the oneworld livery -- all white with the JAL tail. Was it dark? Maybe in the artificial light the white looked silver?

More likely, he saw their cargo fleet, which is bare metal with the JAL tail. From a distance, it's easy to mistake a 767 for a 777.

We had one of the base chief pilots on last week, he claimed we were acquiring 11 777's from JAL. Usually there is some truth in rumors....

Wow 11 777's,
Did he mention when we are suppose to get them , any specifics ??

Gee, whatever happened to the exclusive AA/Boeing deal where if market conditions changed, AA could get aircraft at a quicker pace?

<_< ------ Maybe this could be some sort of payback for all that "One World" $$$$!-------NA!!!

Side note:
Another brand spankin new 737NG headed to AA. It was at CDC/Renton yesterday headed your way for delivery. 🙂

Seems like I see a AA one- about every other week out there...

Yep, while they cry poor mouth at negotiations.

What is the nose number on it?

I don't know, they were pulling it up to the "delivery spot"(right up by the office area)...when I was headed home.
There's another one I noticed in one of the "doghouses" down the row here at Boe fld, being worked now.
I can try and mosey down there there and get the nose nbr off that one.

hmm...apparently something came up and they pulled the one I saw last night back down to a tent hgr.
The 2 out here are N3GM, N3GN.

It's all financed Bob...c'mon man. And they have NO choice but to renew the fleet/retire the MD80s.
Whatya want 'em to do...finance the raises for labor??
I'm on you guys' side. And AA needs to "tighten up" & fly this company right.
But c'mon...

I can't believe that there are people here that would critized AA for renewing the fleet. That is probably the best spend money the company can do. Without aircraft; never mind about a raise, there is no job

Actually I think that is exactly what he expects. If I recall he has even said as much. Say what you want about Bob, and I'll freely admit I disagree with the majority of his viewpoints, but he has always been consistant in is position. He freely admits he feels the workers come first, before even capitol expenditures. So, yes I do expect his positon to be if we can finance the planes, we can finance the contract he feels is deserved.

So approximately how many additional pilots and FAs would you need to staff a single new 777? Figuring 4 RTs a month (figuring a 10 hr 1 way flight time) I'm guessing something like a dozen pilots and (assuming 7 FAs in the cabin) somewhere near 50 FAs?
